The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I would miss snow if I lived down south. Plus here you don't have to wear shorts until late June (I usually wait until July).

Sounds like a fun day Becky.... I am gonna work and putter. I have three flower boxes to fill, I may do that if I can bring myself to go to town.

where does the time go?I don't know... I'm still amazed that it's been 4 years since the last time I was "home". Doesn't seem like that long...
it's three weeks until the new Harry Potter book!
The Hulk movie, directed by Ang Lee, opens in three weeks.

Yeah... I'm not sure about that one. "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" looks interesting, though. Do you know anything about that?

Hair; you had a good location and the free enterprise spirit but around here I doubt that I could get a buck a car (did I say we're frugal in these parts); if the yard was big enough to park more than a couple cars.

When I turned the eggs this morning, I heard peeping:)
How did Roy and JarJar do through the night?

Morning. Just stopping by to say hello, then have to go pick up Jr. He stayed at a friend's last night. I called this morning to get directions, but no answer, so I signed on to Mapquest...of course I could leave him there...
I'll be back later to funkle/catch up.
Oh well, at least it's raining...

Good Morning for when you get online! :)
How is your Apex playing? My cheap POS @#@$@%^& junk has started freezing while playing DVD's. Frodo never got to see the end of "Holy Grail." Guess he can watch it on my dinky 15" desktop monitor.
Can anyone recommend a good DVD player?

LOL, on the way home from my sons last night I asked my husband why I never heard people getting into a dither over LOTR like I did HP. Do they? I have never read or seen HP movies. Are you all as passionate about them as LOTR?

"League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" looks interesting, though. Do you know anything about that?Yes, I do... it's based on another comic book. It's set in a Victorian England where literary characters actually exist. The idea is that several of them (Allan Quatermain, the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, etc.) are recruited by the British Secret Service to stop a madman who is building an airship to be a weapon of destruction.
The comic book purists are upset because apparently the tone of the movie doesn't match the comic book; the comic wasn't very "action-packed". But I agree with you that the movie looks very interesting!

Not quite as passionate, and less passionate than I used to be. It's been three years since the last book, that's a long time. Some people do attck LotR but Tolkien was a stout Christian so there's not as much to attack.

I think any movie that has Allan Quatermain and Dr. Jekyll as characters is going to be pretty cool.

not as much to attackThat doesn't make sense to me. But then again I haven't seen HP. But magic and withcraft are magic and witchcraft rather your a christian or not. So the use of magic to defeat evil in LOTR would be no different then magic used in HP to defeat evil. Isn't it the magic in HP that upsets people? Seems odd to me. Becky
