Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Wizardry of Saruman! Is this a Palantir?
To: g'nad
Wow, thank you for posting that. Thank you for your service, you 'done good'. Be sure to take a picture of yourself in uniform on your last day, maybe even one with the baby. It will be a special keepsake in the years ahead. I know you don't go much for that fluffy sentimental stuff, but trust me. We have a few pics of Big'ol's last day and they're already special to his kids.

The Lone Star Thread has gone into cardiac-arrest. As I type, Potlatch and Prof Engineering are performing CPR., but the outcome isn't looking good right nowLOL!!

Heh.... Corin Jr. sure does know how to keep life interesting! You know, in all seriousness, some days we think that kid is bipolar. I came home and picked up Luke and got him some dinner to take to the game. (Mrs. started back at Wally-world tonite).
By the time I got there we were already winning (we won 6-2). But the Mom's there keeping the score said "Jr is having a great game."
He got three of their players out. And he hit a double and a single. Made it home on the double, but got out at home off of the single. At the beginning of the season he would only get on base if they walked him.
I told the Mrs. "I did not pick up the same child you dropped off."
Luke on the other hand, did quite well. Until the last inning when he finally slipped into the mud I'd be telling him to stay away from. He's had his bath and is having a snack. I need to go put him to bed here in a minute.

"what're you lookin at? Git the #@^%&@* outta my store..." You know, Mrs. Stormhands works at Wal-Mart. From what she tells me that's pretty typical behavior.

My son just called and invited us down to watch LOTR tonight. Obviously you trained up your child in the way he should go.

Wow, what a story osage! - I am stunned! 2001 isn't so long ago either! How time has flown by! I am flattered that our little place represented a return to normalcy and that we brought you cheer.
To: JenB
only there wasn't anyone else there... WHAT? - All that great suspense buildup and there wasn't anyone else there? - Objection! - Re-write! Fix the punch line!
heh......

Somehow for some unknown reason, I not only survived but am walking, driving, and working. I keep a picture of a car I totalled on Jr's 7th birthday. It was clearly the grace of God that allowed either of us to walk away from that. My Honda Civic was broadsided by a utility truck. Unfortunately it was my fault.
I tell people that God and George Lucas spared Jrs' life that day. He had gotten a toy light saber and wanted to take it with us. Mom was working, so I was fulfilling a promise to take him to play miniature golf. Because of the light saber I told him he had to sit in the back seat.
If he had been in the front, he wouldn't have been here to annoy us this afternoon.
Neither of us was seriously hurt. I was banged up a good bit (and part of my knee trouble relates back to that). But I spent the next several hours in the emergency room waivering between how stupid I am and how merciful God is.

LOL! - It's fun havin' him 'round isn't it? I think your chapter is gonna be fun even if you never leave the house! Very funny!

Started a new figure drawing class at FIU recently. The prof tells everyone "No outlining, it'll just look like a cartoon!"
Meanwhile, one kid always puts a chair right up to the model stand, and even rests his drawing pad on the stand. I looked over his shoulder to see how his drawing was coming out. No recognizable images of the model. The entire page was filled with little drawings he'd made of Woody Woodpecker, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Goofy, etc.
Not sure why he signed up for the class.

Coming over here to find out what we
DO over here? ;~D
Welcome to the Hobbit Hole! - Figured it out yet?
To: HairOfTheDog
No! My way, you get the sense I had. That someone was watching me. I felt like a gorgeous female spy on secret business. Too bad I'm not gorgeous, don't drive a sports car, and there's no handsome guy to shoot the baddies when I get stuck!

My Pretty Girl is a bit leary of your Frodo. She slinks around with her tail down and gives him a wide berth. I've been trying to get a picture of the two of them, but she keeps moving.
