The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Sorry, :) yeah we are going. I didn't think it would hurt either:)
He was here earlier and we were talking about it. I was telling him about you all:) It was all good, but that you all really liked LOTR.
I guess it got him curious and he called and said he had rented it did we want to come watch so we are.

Feel free to pause it and log on if you have any questions!
I hope you love our boys and their story, but regardless, write a review for us and tell us what you think!
I hope he got the Extended edition!.... if he did, try to take time to watch some of the extra features before you take it back. They are all quite good and ought to help you on your way to loving the work like we do!
To: g'nad
See ya g'nad....
To: g'nad
I just wanted to say how honored I am to know you, g'nad!
I wish I could express myself properly in words, but I'll just have to make do by giving you my most humble and sincere thanks and undying gratitude for all you've done for me, my friends and family and our country to keep us safe and able to do the things we take for granted everyday (like goofin' off in the Hobbit Hole, for example!).
With the new baby, the move and your retirement, I can only imagine how your head must be spinning right now. Just know that you've got us here for venting days, laughing days, poetry days and look-what-I've-killed-today days.
You've captured a bit of my heart g'nad, but that's okay - I'm glad you have it! Who could keep it safer than a Marine.
Semper Fidelis.
Always faithful.

G'nad - that was a wonderful tribute to your career and way of life; The warrior has sheathed his sword. As one door closes another is opened, you have blessings untold in family, friends, and home. You'll never be just a 'slimy civilian' like many of us, you'll always be a Marine. Thank you for your service on our behalf.
To: HairOfTheDog
I popped some corn. Frodo and I are ready to watch a movie.

What should we watch?
To: g'nad
... then, if I get masochistic, maybe substitute teachin'...I take it you've seen the movie "Kindergarden Cop"? That's YOU, g'nad. :)
Seriously, your life has been redirected into an unwanted direction. But you've been given a couple of special gifts to help along the way. You now have health, and a long life ahead of you. And you have the freedom to watch your kids grow up next to you, without those long deployments away from the family. Those are very precious, and not every man gets those blessings.
There's still something important for you to do, g'nad, and you'll know it when you see it. You did plenty of rushing around in the Marines already, so you are entitled to take your time now.
Thank you for your service. It wasn't as long as you wanted, but the Marines, and America, are still the better for it. You have many more un-hobbity adventures ahead of you yet, and I hope you'll share them with us.
To: Overtaxed
HA! - Beautiful!
I would suggest a good story about The most famousest of hobbits!
To: HairOfTheDog
I thought about that. Do you think the movie would bring back unpleasant memories for Frodo?
To: Overtaxed
If it does, at least you will be with him. He is glad you are with him.
To: Overtaxed
Good luck, I am going to go out and perform another shrubectomy while the light lasts. I am on a roll.

Wneighbor; a broken neck, holy cats, and you still ride? You Tejanos have strong medicine.
Guess I got to share at this point. January 14, 2001. 5:30 pm on my way home from work, a Semitractor trailor took the 'Jackson Curve' on I-70 too fast and went over on its side. The trailer slid across the intervening lane and struck my car. My car was dragged along the jersey barrier and then flipped over the top, landing nose first on the embankment, then rolling to stop just short of the entrance ramp lane and Jackson Street intersection. When all was said and done, I was laying in the car (yes, still buckled in) across the seat with a broken neck. Lots of things go through your mind at a time like this. The paralysis starting diminishing on the ride in the ambulance to Truman medical Center. God Bless those Fireman and Paramedics that were able to get me out of that wreck in one piece.
Somehow for some unknown reason, I not only survived but am walking, driving, and working.
C-2 was broken in two places, but after 13 weeks in Halo Traction, 4 weeks in a hard cervical collar and 24-7 care by my patient, loving wife, Susan, and two months of Physical Therapy, I'm darn near good as new.
Why I was given such a gift, I'll never know, the Lord has a plan I'm sure, I'm listening for it, but until that time, I'll continue what I'm doing and witnessing to who ever will listen.
And a big thanks to Hair and all other posters who made Lurking something to look forward to as I made my way back to a semblance of normalcy. (which as any HHD will know, varies from moment to moment.)

(HHD-you can learn all there is know about hobbits...)
To: HairOfTheDog
Whoa, I just had the strangest evening... First Dad asks me to do some backups, but only after everyone had gone home. But the one guy didn't go home until after 7:30. So at 7 I went past and decided I needed to kill time and go to see a movie. But neither theater I tried had a showing at a good time, or they were sold out....
So I went back to work and had one of "those" moments. You know the scene in the movies where the heroine is downloading the critical files onto a floppy and someone is walking down the hallways toward her? It was like that, only there wasn't anyone else there... Weird stuff.

Sorry guys but I need to interrupt here for an important announcement.
I'm sorry to inform all you Texans of this but The Lone Star Thread has gone into cardiac-arrest. As I type, Potlatch and Prof Engineering are performing CPR., but the outcome isn't looking good right now. I'm afraid she may not make it without your encouragement. You might want to stop by and say your farewells ASAP. Tommorrow may be too late :'(
