The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Wow. No wonder we think alike. We live in parallel universes where your mom is my aunt. Exact same reasons for sicknesses.

But if the playoffs depend on him being there tonight, I don't see how he can skip it. Skipping is not an option. Right now I'm just dealing with the fact that he's giving his mom a hard time. If I were there I could get in his face and tell him to get his act together. He would, even though he wouldn't like it.
But Mom is no longer able to do that with him.
When she called, he had taken off to the pool. She told him that he didn't have time, but he said he had to take his friend's goggles back. That part was true, but when she called he'd been gone over 20 minutes and the pool is just a block away.
If he ignored her and went swimming, there must be consequences. The first of which is that he can't sleep over at his friend's tonite. But that messes me up 'cause it means I have to pick him up from rehearsal at 11:00 p.m. and take Luke with me (Mrs. starts back a Wal-Mart at 7:00).
Sigh...

Movie Elrond was Agent Smith from The Matrix! That's what Myranda says. She was in Theater 4 this year. One of their little acting evaluations was too see Hugo in Matrix, FOTR and one other movie. The point was that in all 3 movies he really portrayed the same character. And the point the Theater instructor was trying to make is that playing one character is not acting.

No, you are absolutely right, he cannot quit. That's always been our policy. The only time we've ever let him quit was a couple of summers ago, he quit after one swim team practice. But that was when he was still having ear trouble and he woke up at 3:00 a.m. with excruciating ear pain. He said "I don't want to be on swim team" and we agreed.
I know this is frustrating for him. The youth production is very important, and very intense. In fact the intensity of our productions is why I'm considering not doing the Christmas show this year (and why I'm currently not singing in the choir).
I think he probably resents that the game hinges on his willingness to play. And while I don't blame him, we can't change that either.

I wish she could do something like that. These kids get
inspected to see that they aren't going to do something like that. I didn't know that until I'd bought her 4 cans of silly string and a beach ball. I'm still trying to get her to take the beach ball. I figure there will have to be some of those kids that manage to smuggle in something. And I know how to help her. And if she's there and doesn't have something and other's do she'll feel left out. I figure she can stick the deflated beach ball under her bra and if we do it right - who will know. I'm all for trying to get in silly string in in dress pockets too.
Do you know they have such strict dress regulations that it even addresses that the dress under her gown had to be knee length no shorter no longer. Oh, and the dress can only be black or dark blue! People must be having to buy clothing for this.
So, after the beach ball and silly string I bought, do you really think I care about the ritual pomp and circumstance?

Elrond, was skewed and twisted by PJ. I think PJ had elf-power-envy and had to ruin the character. PFFFFFT! Why would you say such a think about PJ?
I like the movie Elrond! - I see him as just taking the situation very seriously! He is old and wise, a little sad, and he thinks the situation is grave.
I like Hugo Weaving in the role! So there! :~P

If I'm back on later and slurring my posts, you'll know it didn't go too well...

Hey why don't you invite the lady and her family for whom you prepared the First Communion dinner? Her husband came home!!!! YEAH!!!!! And she already brought Myranda a really nice necklace, card and balloons yesterday. She was telling me earlier this week that their church is honoring them and some other couples with a dinner because of the husband's service. It is at the same time as Myranda's graduation.
But, I did invite her. That's why she was telling me about the dinner. She is so sweet. I am so glad I got to know her.

Heh.... Corin Jr. sure does know how to keep life interesting!
To: Wneighbor
Hmmm, a beach ball could be tucked in her undergarments, kind of icky but hey.
Well, I wish you well and many congrats to her.
Tis quitting time. Have a good weekend in spite of everything!

But the speaker was the worst imaginable. Sam, think what you want, but I will probably not ever know what any speech-maker says during any speech like that. I usually take a book.

I'm not giving her the 70 bucks because I'd still have to take her to the durned ceremony and turn around and pick her up.

Did you get that note in your rule book? It was left out of mine. And I think it stinks!
