The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Biscuits and sausage gravy. There's another less family-friendly term for it that I won't mention here. *laughing*

Maybe you should try to contact the other (soon to be) homeowners. They may be experiencing the same frustrations. You'd have more strength (and resources) together. Excellent suggestion! Since you were so nice to the lady at the county, if you have any trouble finding out other homeowner's names you might get some help there. It should be a matter of public records for whom he is building.

I would like to think that eventually I will run it instead of walking fast, but it is just too ankle-twisting where the grass is deep. Yes, do be careful. My arthritis is largely (no pun intended) complicated by my weight. But I've got a couple of lingering injuries from running, etc. (I once chased a foul ball into a ditch and broke my ankle. That was the last time I played softball...it was 1979)
I'd prefer yer tombstone to say something like "Her bark was work than her stick..."

Imagine giving 25 pills to a cat! You are right.... that is worse. The bubble gum antibiotics in the dropper are easier for kitty!

Howcome you and I are about the same age but you got electrics in high school? I dunno. My brother is five years ahead of me. I'm pretty sure they had the same equipment.
We also had indoor plumbing...in the "smoking lounge"...

Biscuits and sausage gravy. There's another less family-friendly term for it that I won't mention here. *laughing* Well, I may be wrong, but I thought you told us in your text that it was biscuits and gravy. But, then, I smothered it in bacon so who knows! At any rate it was very friendly to this family.

You can get bute in the paste form in a syringe, it's alot easier then the pills.
No I have never tried Applesauce. I'm like you, I don't know if my horse would eat it. Alot of people think this is terrible, but I never give treats, apples, carrots, etc. to my horses, so sometimes when people offer them to my horses they won't eat them. I think it's because they are not use to them.
I don't give them because it makes them rather pushy with their heads looking for a treat. I'm having trouble now with Rusty. His former owners must have scrathed his head alot when they unbridled him. He almost knocks me over now wanting to be scratched, and thinking I'm a rubbing post. It was a real problem at my ride during the PR's when he is suppose to be standing quietly.

Hmm...I wonder if the biscuits and gravy nickname is the same as the creamed beef nickname that first came to my mind. S.O.S. for short? I know a few more, but that's probably the most common.

My FIL, rest his soul, used to call it "s--t on a shingle".
He had so many sayings, I wish I could remember them all.
I remember a few like "livin' high on the hog" and "put your name in the pot" and "busier than a cat under a guava tree". There are more, but some contain profanity. :)

Indoor plumbing? I've heard of that. When I was growin' up we put indoor/outdoor carpeting in the bathroom.
Liked it so much we ran it all the way up to the house...

He had so many sayings, I wish I could remember them all. My stepfather always says that the Mrs. and I are "livin' above our raisin'"...
He should talk. Wearing shoes livin' above his raisin'....
