The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

OK, I've just decided, if/when Rose and I have kids,

You know we expect to be the first to know of these plans.

As for the rest of the post......

I'm not ever going to leave the house again. Unless I take them with me.

Uh, yeah, right.

want me to put them on ebay for you?

We have an accout, thanks... two of them, in fact! One for selling, one for buying.

Were the comics you asked me about the only ones you had?

I was funnin' you. I didn't figure you'd get rid of any comics that old.

Were the comics you asked me about the only ones you had?

I had a stack of X-Men and a Wonder Woman that Myranda wanted. Heck, if she wants 'em there's no reason to get rid of 'em. As for the rest..... I don't know..... the box is a black hole of who knows what!!! I just take out 3 or 4 things and photograph it and then do something else. The last stuff I took out was some dad-blamed football and baseball magazines, some more of those 8 x 10 baseball cards, and some autographed drag race paraphenalia!!!

the racing stuff doesn't go to ebay. it goes to my room.

Well, actually... when you're talking an average value of $15/issue on a 100-issue-plus run, the temptation gets very strong...

If you pull any more comics out of that box that you want to price, just let me know.

Hi all... tiring day at work. It's a lovely evening but my mom's all irritated so I doubt I'll get to go biking tonight. That's a shame. Plus she's making stew, which I hate, and sulking... ergh...

I sent it priority. Should be there by the weekend.

I just got in from sending them. I'm just exhausted! It's like giving birth, sending these packages! I prepare for it for days in advance, then it's all I think about and work on for like 2 days and then happiness, relief and exhaustion when they are sent!

Hi! I had my pre-employment physical this morning: the lady who arranged it is in Kansas and she had me going all the way to Burlington! (180 degrees away from work). So I was hurry up and waiting all morning and driving all over the place. Plus, it was one of those deals where you had to fast and I missed my morning coffee. Had a headache the rest of the day until I got home and had coffee at tea time.

At least the weather is nice and I got a brand new cat catalog....I like looking at the cat furniture.

I'm glad you said that. I thought I was just lazy in package sending. It takes me days to get it together!

FYI, the package I sent you looks very "incomplete" in my opinion...I didn't even seal the box. It's meant to be topped off with anything else you want to send. The care package box is inside a bigger box.

Does that make sense?

Wow, no fun!

I had a big project to do today and of course, the software kept throwing up weird new errors I had to fix. It's like being late for work and driving really fast, but bits keep coming off your car and you're trying to glue the steering wheel back on before you crash...

Only without the danger of hitting someone, I guess.

Hate it when that sort of thing happens.

We have a teleconference with Kansas tomorrow. I have a real estate guy coming tomorrow and someone local wanting to set up a phone interview. Stay or go? I guess the real estate market will decide....I'd hate to think I went through all that healthcare stuff for nothing!

Personally, I would go. But then I have a serious case of wanderlust... I'd probably go to Arkansas if it was an option.

Well, maybe not Arkansas.

Well...I'm just a worry-wart, I guess. If the real estate people say it's probable that the house will sell in a year, I'll probably go. With the bonus plus a little bit more, I can carry both mortgage and rent that long. Also, if I leave the company before a year is up I have to give the bonus money back.

Then again....it'd be lots less trouble to stay.

Yes ma'am, that makes perfect sense. I am going to add tang and some tea bags. And the Ranger Rick books that 300winmag sent. I haven't baked the cookies yet but Myranda said she wanted to do them. Her best friend just arrived here from Waco though to stay until graduation. Hmmmm, wonder if they will bake cookies or only search out males? One male is here now.

I have to load new software on 22 computers at work sometime this summer. UGH! or better forget the software and find a new job.
