The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

No, I missed that. I daydream about it all the time at work, though.

I've been working on the care packages this evening...

With some slight variation now and then, most all of the packages contain:

1 set of The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings
1 box of Twinkies
1 box of Ding Dongs
1 box of Little Debbie snack cakes
1 pair of binoculars
1 box of Slim Jims
1 container of Tang
Various messages from Hobbit Hole Dwellers
2-4 pairs of tube socks to brace the items in the box (Steve's idea...better than packing peanuts or those plastic grocery sacks I usually use.)

There are four boxes total. One of these boxes is going to Wneighbor's SIL. It doesn't contain Tang, but does contain several lip balms and some bottles of lubricating eye drops.

Yep! LOL

My friend Celeste (that originally got me involved with writing to the chaplain) just sent him several more containers of hard candy, including more fire balls. So I didn't get any of that.

Don't you think the socks idea was good? I've been taking my old plastic grocery sacks and stuffing in for packing...because they are light. But the guys can wear the socks!

You know, if you go to bed now, those morning folks will just spam the thread something fierce in the morning...

I would like to see X-2 again. It was a good story, and I'm not even that familiar with the characters. I had seen X Men once. I'll have to rent the DVD, watch it, then go see X-2 again!

Well, maybe they won't spam... we'll have to wait and see!

We need to get the X-Men DVD ourselves... would like to get the X-Men 1.5 DVD, which apparently features a lot of deleted scenes and other neat stuff.
