The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That's exactly what I was thinking of! Remember, I didn't go back to church for months! I avoided rather than confronted and now that shrink is teaching another class. I rarely see him, but when I do I refuse to even look at him, much less speak to him.

Steve did speak with him though...did I tell you? He asked if there was anything he could do to fix things and Steve told him the best thing to do would be to leave me alone. He said he would...and he has.

HA! But avoidance was only your second instinct *after* your first instinct did the damage! ;~D

Well, this is true.

Hey, here's a recipe! I guess I should go get the livers out of the trash!

1 carton chicken livers
1 package of limburger cheese.
Enough flour to stiffen the bait.

You'll need rubber or plastic gloves for the first part. Put the gloves on and mush the limburger, and chicken livers. Mix until thoroughly blended. Then mix in flour until you get the consistency you want. Let set in the sun for at least 4 days with the lid slightly open. (The bait will rise slightly.) Use this bait with catfish worms, or sponge hooks

My little brother makes stink bait. He uses whatever nasty leftover stuff he has and lets it sit in a plastic container in the fridge. It's like meaty compost. UGH

See, part of me really gets ticked that maybe that jerkhead might be keeping me from a nice summer job at WalMart. And then the other half of me says, that's really not the place I ought to go. WalMart is only 7 blocks from my house. I could walk. But, then 2j will love this Sam's is only 6 blocks and I am fixing to go over there. One of Myranda's friends works there and he says he doesn't think they are hiring now but it never hurts to go get in an app.

My brother also reuses the guts from the fish he catches in his stink bait. And when he hunts if he drains blood he freezes it for putting in stink bait later.

anybody gagging yet?

Well, I just hauled the livers out of the trash...(they are sealed up in a baggie.) I just took them out of the still cold cooler this morning, so they aren't too rank.

But, being new person in the work environment with him being there a few months doesn't really look too good on me if something happened.

Well, it wouldn't be anything new for WalMart. My wife is in the accounting office so she doesn't have to deal with the public. Still there's a lot of silly office politics that go on.

WalMarts are usually big enough though that you may not even be there during the same times he is.

They've been good to Mrs. Stormhands.

We never use stinky bait.... even when we were crabbing we used fresh chicken breasts on the bone... very clean and easy to tie onto the pots. The crab still came!

I know, and if I liked to shop I would probably eat healthier and better.

I don't know that I'd consider WalMart for "healthier and better" shopping. Sure you can get tuna and fresh produce there. But it's stocked next to the cookies and the bakery...

The closest grocery store (is it big enough to be considered a "supermarket"?) is almost always hiring part-time deli clerks.

Is there a translator so I can see what "Hobbit Hole Dweller" looks like in Dwarvish?

I have a prayer request for all of you, please. A friend called today and asked for a healing miracle for a young mother in our Parish.

OH Suzi! I just got to this. Am praying. Please keep us updated.

Gees, makes you put personal stuff in perspective doesn't it?
