Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

How lovely! Looks like paradise.

Thread died? - Dang! I got up and made myself a nice steak sandwich from yesterday's leftovers.... gotta do a few chores now... back in a bit.

Got busy talking to a co-worker who just got accepted into a PhD program at the tender age of 24. I'm feeling rather inadequate right about now and need to nurse my ego a bit.

Need prayer. Did not have enough students sign up to work at all this summer. No summer pay. Need a summer job. Am going out now to look some more. Home Depot had already hired everyone they needed when I got over there that one day. So, I have to find something else.
To: HairOfTheDog
mmmmmmmm....steak sammich....
To: Wneighbor
Will pray.
I don't supposed you'd want this one 'cause of the commute, but I'm gettin' ready to call Kings Dominion and tell them I don't want their offer for weekend work. I would've taken it two months ago when I applied, but now the Mrs. has her weekend schedule for Wal-Mart...
To: Wneighbor; Corin Stormhands
Need a summer job. What about Walmart? I seriously think about working there now and then...just to get the employee discount!
I love Walmart...
To: Wneighbor
Eeeek! I hope you find something enjoyable and fast for the summer WN!
To: 2Jedismom
I have still never been in a Walmart! - Amazed? - We never had one in my town until this last year, and it isn't in my habits!
To: HairOfTheDog
That is really amazing. I buy all the kids clothes there, buy all my groceries there, have my car serviced there.
I really love the place!
To: 2Jedismom
As a rule, I hate big stores. It seems like a lot of trouble to have the milk and bread a half-mile apart when I only need milk and bread.
To: Corin Stormhands
I have enough cooked steak to have another steak sammich for lunch.... and a couple uncooked steaks I have to decide to eat or freeze. I have that gallon of HOTD surprise I planned on living on this week.
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm so forgetful that I would go in thinking all I needed was milk and bread. Then I get into the big store and remember..."Oh! I did need those powdered donuts!" Or "Now if they hadn't put that Capt Crunch there, I would have forgot how much I've been wanting some!"
LOL!!!
I love big stores!

Speaking of freezing things...
I just re-froze my shad and my shrimp...it will be OK for another weekend of fishing.
My chicken livers were shot though, hardly holding shape...I wonder if I could blend them up and make some sort of stink bait?
Off to find a recipe!

I thought about WalMart. Especially since we know about Corin's wife's job there.
Okay, so counsel me. I don't know if any of ya'll remember but I told ya'll several months ago that when we first moved here Myranda ended up dating this guy that was a real looser and actually shoved me one day because he didn't like that I was giving her instructions for something.
Well, that guy works at our WalMart near my house now. He makes my skin crawl. I was thinking that maybe I should just go apply and face him down. But, being new person in the work environment with him being there a few months doesn't really look too good on me if something happened. And of course I would never be able to take any lip off of him. He said a lot of bad things about Myranda and started some really ugly rumors - that were completely untrue - about Myranda when I told her he wasn't allowed at our house anymore. If he said anything about her... it would be a major blow it out your shorts moment.
So, give me some clear headed thoughts on this....
To: 2Jedismom
I know, and if I liked to shop I would probably eat healthier and better. But I just avoid shopping and get the minimum. I am a failure as a woman.
To: Wneighbor
OK so maybe WalMart isn't the right place....
To: Wneighbor
I, being the type that avoids rather than confronts (except with Steve, out of nessessity), would find out when he worked and work different hours.
I don't know if that's an option, though.
To: 2Jedismom
I, being the type that avoids rather than confronts Riiiiiiiight. Need I remind you of the incident at Sunday school?
To: HairOfTheDog
Hair, you note I didn't say I go in and buy anything HEALTHY! LOL I am just a junk food junkie and the big store is just murder on my habit! LOL
I like to go in the organic type food stores too, (Akins) but I can't find it to pay that much for food...no matter how good it is for me.
