The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Found it at last... a cover scan of X-Men (first series) #101, October 1976: Jean Grey crash-lands a space shuttle in Jamaica Bay, NY, and gets a new costume (among other things).

Don't read this if you don't want to be spoiled -> This story was the basis of the "Jean rescues everyone and appears to die" subplot in the X-Men 2 movie. Obviously, Jean didn't really die...<-

By the way, I just noticed this cover is scanned from a UK edition of the comic... hmmm...

Good Morning! It's drizzling here too. Maybe I'll have to cancel my grilling plans for today.

Getting ready to head out to Lowe's and check out the plants

Morning O.T. Morning L.F.

Got an early morning call from Germany this morning. Everybody is better and recovering from that bug they got last week. They were having pepperoni pizza for lunch - so I guess the tummy violence must be gone!

I am glad.... put on your favorite soundtrack. Concerning Hobbits can give anyone a sunny outlook!

When I got out of the tub last night the social butterfly was on the phone... for hours...until I finally went to bed with her still on the phone. Therefore, you heard no more from me last night. Now they say Grama has pancreatitus.... which has not been there before. Apparantly it is very painful. They have her on narcotics.

My Mom still has one of those tub washers with rollers on it... I don't know if she still uses it though.

Well, I'd trade her a stack of comic books and baseball cards for it!!!

Sometimes I'm glad I live 1500 miles away from my family. I don't get embroiled in their day to day problems with each other. I can fly in and visit for a week or two, then come back to MA.

See,now, that is the good thing about living in the slag heaps!

Yeah, I forgot to mention one little item about this weird family relationship last night.... because I don't think about it. But, I think other people do. Grama still has quite a bank account. I personally am of the opinion that that's what they are wanting. Little do they know she's already disbursed quite a bit of it our way. There may be fireworks someday when she's gone. But, personally, I'd hand it all over to 'em if I could get her up here with me. Discussed it with my attorney. Won't work.

Well, if so, then "have a good day and see ya later!"

No, we got the "cheap" version of the van. No luggage rack, but we've considered having one installed. Actually it worked last year for us to take out one seat. And this year we won't have to be taking things like a port-a-crib, booster seat, etc. for Luke.

Never seen Ollie Hopnoodle Haven of Bliss.

Oh and Hello Good morning. The sun was actually out here a minute ago, but it looks like it's gone behind the clouds again...no wait...there it is...

That's what I keep threatening to do with the toilet we just took out of the upstairs hall bath!

There used to be a family up between Glen Rose and Walnut Springs that lined their property with old toilets. Only thing was they just set 'em there and didn't plant anything in 'em. It was right on the highway where another farm road took off at an angle. Large triangular lot. Fully lined. EEEWWWWWW

Okay, gotta go. Looks like we will be opening the pool today. And we have our "family fun day..."

Have I mentioned this is my last season on the pool board?

At our new house I'm gonna have a Virgin Mary statue in the front of the house, and in the back, a St. Francis of Assisi, with flamingos around him!

Flamingos have grown on me in the last 50 posts or so.

and I might need to buy one of those 100 packs so I can send a couple to Jen.

What do you want Suzi? About a dozen??? Then there's 4 or 5 for OT's yankee cousins.......
