Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

...Henna tattoos only.... they just press on.

I'm thinking I need a couple flamingos in the back yard. But there is this place at the beach where we stop to by produced. They sell really neat sculptures of cranes made from driftwood and white metal. I've wanted one for the last four years, but they're pricey (and we never have room in the van). I'm gettin' one this year.

...NOBODY's pressin' my butt!
To: Corin Stormhands
Yes, she does, but she gets a new code name and a new costume. Not sure if they'll do the new costume in the movie...I think that's what X3, and possibly X4, will be about, by the way...

Ewwwww....tattoos!Oh, but these are cool because they don't stay more than 3 weeks. They get very faint after one week then go entirely after 3. And since it will be January, you could get one on your upper arm just below your shoulder, and no one at work or anywhere else would ever see it!
They are painted on using a tool that looks just like one of those Wilton Cake Decorating tubes, but with a very tiny hole. The stuff is a paste that is black. After the paste dries, you flake it off, and depending on the henna, the picture is soft black or a rust color.

I didn't know the story, but that's basically what I said to Jr. because of the way it ended.

I checked it out yesterday and saw the one egg, but never could see the eaglet. I kept waiting for it to move. I guess because of the Refresh rate of the camera, the picture is still, then everything will move. It's strange to watch.
I checked it first thing this morning, but Mama was just sitting on the eaglet and egg, so I didn't see either.
Has this new young male been bringing food to the nest? I've seen him sitting on the branch keeping watch, but is he earning his keep otherwise?
To: Corin Stormhands
She panicked and rather than open the thing up, she just ran his arm back through. LOL!! Yeah, it happened to the son of the caretaker at our Fish Camp. He was a little brat, and it served him right, too!
To: HairOfTheDog; Corin Stormhands
Hey Hair, he's gotta sleep sometime, then we can tatoo "Elf Friend" on him somewhere VISIBLE!
To: Corin Stormhands
I wondered that myself, Corin, especially after that long lingering shot of the flooded area at the end of the movie.
To: SuziQ
et tu Suzi?
To: SuziQ
It was the narration that convinced me.
To: SuziQ
The camera just takes still shots every ten seconds, so yes, is it a little tough sometimes to tell what is happening.
I don't know if the new male is bringing food... he does guard the nest; he will sit on the edge of it while she is hunting, but too often did not sit on the eggs while she was gone. Hopefully he will grow into the job by next year.
I haven't seen them bring back food to the nest yet, I think at this point they are mostly feeding the eaglet regurgitated and small bites. Later on they will bring back big fish or rodents for it.

Not sure who else is still up. But it's storming here. I'm gonna sign off and get some sleep.
See y'all tomorrow.
To: Corin Stormhands
I am going to bed soon too. Got the lawnmowers working all night tonight in the yard instead of putting them in. Summer is arriving and they don't have to be in if it isn't raining. Less stall cleaning for me.
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh believe me Hair, they don't want this hunk of junk!! It is one of the older 'new' toilets, and if the builder spent more than $50 on it, I would be surprised. You could blow your nose and toss the little bit of toilet tissue into it and it would overflow. We've already had to repair the kitchen ceiling once because of the water damage, and may have to again before we leave because it overflowed again after the repair job!! Clare got to where she called it an 'evil toilet' and would go to another bathroom!
We got a ToTo toitie, and it is WONDERFUL! It has a pressure assisted flush, and a full 2" glazed trapway so stuff will actually go down and not get stuck! It cost us $180, and another $100 to have it installed and it is worth every penny just for the peace of mind! And Clare will now use that bathroom again.
We'll be using nothing but ToTos in the new place.

I've wanted one for the last four years, but they're pricey (and we never have room in the van). I'm gettin' one this year. Can you lash it to the roof of your mini-van? Which reminds me, have you see the movie Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss? It is one of the funniest movies about family vacation preparations I have ever seen! It was written by Jean Shepherd, the same guy who wrote A Christmas Story about Ralphie and the Red Ryder B B Gun.

Trying to find images at dial-up speeds really sucks... now that I know we won't be moving, I have to get RoadRunner ASAP.
Good night.

Dad has one of those pressurized toilets at the beach house but we left the standard old toilet upstairs when we remodeled on purpose, because you can still use it and manually fill it when the power is out. The pressure one, you can't. (something to consider! ;~D)
But the contractor kept the standard old (3 gallon?) toilet we took out downstairs, since you can't buy them anymore... (even though, in W WA, water is not scarce, these are regional and personal issues people!) He said has them them refinished for customers who want them.
