Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Get the house clean? That's no fun!
To: Overtaxed
But it'll be nice to have a clean kitchen to pop my corn in and a nice spiffy bathroom to soak in and an orderly computer room to sit in!
To: 2Jedismom
Orderly? How can you be comfortable in an orderly room? :)

My criticism, I hope you know, was for an owner who would have a stallion grow to 1200 pounds without training while anyone still had a chance.I understand. The laziness, apathy, and general stupidity of the human owner condemned him to an awful life. We have such a responsibility to those animals, and "doing the right thing" is not impossible. Efforts spent in caring properly for animals usually pays you back 10-to-1 in affection and devotion from the animal. Except cats, where it's more like 1-to-1.

***You are right! - A book would sell!***
...except that I have been rejected by about 25 publ agents... and the publ themselves will not talk to you.

It is simulated Khudzul -- because dwarves keep their language secret.

I had a co-worker call me a Little Hobbit Woman the other day in front of his wife, and she poked him for it. He said 'no, no, she'll be complimented'. And I was.
I took a moment to type this up. I guess Boromir is my over all favorite character in the movies. (as opposed to my favorite in the books which is, without doubt, Gandalf.)
From the Gate of Kings the North Wind rides, and pass the roaring falls;
And clear and cold about the tower its loud horn calls.
'What news from the North, O might wind, do you bring to me today?
What news of Boromir the Bold? For he is long away!'
'Beneath Amon Hen I heard his cry. There many foes he fought
His cloven shield, his broken sword, they do the water brought.
His head so proud, his face so fair, his limbs they laid to rest;
And Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, bore him upon its breast.'
'O Boromir! The Tower of Guard shall ever northward gaze
To Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, until the end of days.'

Hmmm..
Has it been done? - Are their copyright issues? - What is the reason? Or do they give one?

I'm Home Alone!"

Whee!

Gnad: well, 300 posts later, both my double and my pump are stevens. Both well used when I got them. The 20 SXS was restocked english by an old timer I knew. Wood is stunning. Just a fortunate set of circumstances. The pump is 2 3/4 28 M plain jane. Just can't wear em out.

WHat should I play first? Kingsfold?
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Hullo my FRiend. It's good to see you again!
To: 2Jedismom
So am I. Crank up the stereo (I'm playing Miles Davis, myself).

Happy Birthday, J.R.R. Tolkien!
Tolkien gifted us all with a wonderful present that truly does keep on giving. He left us the history of Middle Earth, a gift that we can enjoy again and again and again.
To: Sam Cree
SC:Well, for me the english on a SXS just looks right. On an O/U it doesn't. Aesthetics and feel I suppose.
I believe your assessment of recoil is correct. The auto will be 6-8 inches longer due to the receiver, this may help pass shooting or trap, but would not likely be an advantage to a shorter statured person. The O/U or SXS would simply be better balanced - imho only. BTW on the auto side - I prefer the A-5 to the 1100 and its kin. Again aesthetics and nostalgia if you will. Never had one but have shot them both. Good luck with your search, I would suggest visiting a gun club or shooting club, I'm sure she could try a variety of makes and models there.

It's Friday! Play whatever!
To: 2Jedismom
Me too! - But I am not getting the same charge out of it you are!
Gotta take out the garbage!
Dust!
Wash the slipcovers!
Feed the ponies!

***What is the reason? Or do they give one?***
No... no one even looked at the ms; that is why I posted it on the web - AFTER copyrighting it. I'm flipped if I will spend two years working on something I end up throwing in the trash can.
The only other Tolkien dictionary of this type that I know of is the one by Ruth Noel, which is severly criticized, but there was not much raw material available at the time she penned it. And YET, Tolkien's publishers printed it in 1980.
Thank you for your interest.

What did you think of Robert Foster's book?
