Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hmmm...how about using cayenne pepper? Lots of capsaicin. I use that sometimes. I find that I have to alternate between remedies. Tolerance buildup I guess. The salicylates in willow don't seem to do anything though so I don't know about the mustard. Might be interesting researching it though. The thing that works best for me is to stay on maintenance preventatives. But, when I'm not hurting I forget them. HA

Of course there's always homemand rheumatiz medicine....
To: Overtaxed
Um "homemade"
To: HairOfTheDog
OH! I fared better in the scratch department with Smeagol. She only snapped at me once. But, I'm only half done.
To: Overtaxed
HA! Already had some homemade OT?
To: Wneighbor; HairOfTheDog
Miss Cat took a swipe at me when I was working a mat out of her fur this afternoon.
To: Wneighbor
*hic* Well I don't have any joint pain. :)
To: HairOfTheDog
I have had worse!Just a flesh wound, then?
Kindof like a mean drunk instead of a fuzzy pushover!
Uhm, I would think that would make it more difficult to trim his hair, not less?
By the way, we have a neighbor kitty who usually gets a lion cut for the summer, but he hasn't had it done yet...

Just the seeds, I believe.
Salicylic acid is a type of carboxylic acid (OT catch me if I err) and there are tons of different ones. Carboxylic acids are responsible for the burn in spicy-hot foods such as peppers, mustard, cinammon and so on.
Gonna turn in. See ya in the mornin'
To: Overtaxed; Wneighbor
Yeah - It doesn't take much to get scratched! Course there were two people holding his feet and a towel over his head so he couldn't bite me, or it would have been worse!
I am tired.... gonna hit the couch and watch a movie.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Uhm, I would think that would make it more difficult to trim his hair, not less?Well, yeah, but we didn't know that until we got him drunk.... we were committed.
To: Overtaxed
Smeagol has some stickers matted on her belly. She does not like to have the ones removed from leg creases. I think in order to get one out I jabbed her with it first.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
By the way, we have a neighbor kitty who usually gets a lion cut for the summer, but he hasn't had it done yet... YOu should post photos when it happens!
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, yeah, but we didn't know that until we got him drunk.... we were committed. Maybe next time you just need to put Everclear in his Post Toasties.
To: Wneighbor
My sister's cat (Miss Emily) sometimes comes homes with these little burrs all in her fur. Looks like a polka dot cat and she doesn't like them to be removed.
To: Overtaxed
This dog isn't lucky enough to have them "removed" I just cut. Must've got that from grama. She had the reputation of giving more for the price of a haircut than anybody in town.
To: Wneighbor
I don't know how well that would work. Miss Emily is a short haired cat already.
To: Wneighbor
YOu should post photos when it happens!Well, I would, since he's rather goofy looking... but we don't have a camera.

Oh, my. That's... interesting.
We watched "The Count of Monte Cristo", which is a very good movie. I like it better than the book, especially the ending.

Well, Winmag hit the nail on the head with the animated dustmop decription of Smeagol. Therefore any cutting isn't even noticable in a couple of weeks.
