The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh no!! That's terrible about the busted bones! Amazing that you set that finger yourself. The more I find out about Marines, the more they amaze me.

The boys have their bedroom walls plastered with Marines posters...maybe it'll sink in...

it broke my pinky and ripped it outta the socket... I reset it myself, splinted it and taped it to the ring finger... happened last nite so it's still a little tender... both of these injuries are on my good arm, so life has been interestin' to say the least...

You are the coolest guy I know.

Oh, I'm goig to be in trouble if I stay on line too much longer.

We're going fishin here in a while anyway...catfishing!! MMmmmm! Hate to say it, but I love catfish. I like it that you don't have those scales you have to deal with. Just tack the cat to a tree and tear it's skin off.

Okay... *deep breath*

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the idea of my dad remarrying is really odd to me right now. NOT that I would do something about it, to prevent him. And there's no time limit in my mind...it just is a strange thought to me.

You have to remember that a) I've never experienced divorce or separation, and b) I've never been in a long term relationship of any kind, let alone marriage, so I can't really know what he's going through. I just know that we're all hurting right now, in different ways, and all we can do to help one another is just to be there...and pray for one another.

If and when this speculation actually becomes reality - and because I know my Dad, I believe it wouldn't happen for a while, and if it does, it will be a surprise to him as well (as in I doubt he'll be actively seeking someone...it's just not something he would do) - I leave that in God's hands. I didn't finish that last sentence, did I? As I was gonna say, if this WERE to happen, I think my reactions would probably be very different from what is in my mind right now. I can't really imagine it, though.

But talking about my Dad like this, without his input and in a totally speculative sense...it bothers me. I'm sorry I said anything.

I am glad you responded.... I was worried sick that you were offended by me telling you what to think. Sometimes I say too much. I just have a friend who made a really bad mistake when the issue came up for her, and I wanted to try to prevent that at all costs.

You can just hit me with a stick if you want.

Keep in mind that if your dad were to be in a new relationship it wouldn't be -boom, new wife. Since ya'll are already a close family this relationship would grow gradually on you too. "Oh, she's my dad's friend from ???" Then, "well, when they spend time together my dad really seems lighthearted again." etc.

And in all this, we have dived into the subject === the day after yesterday. Not a good day for you to be faced with accepting the whole tater all at once. Whatever happens will happen when time has healed you some more and won't be something you're thrown into cold.

I got the Slim Jims! I'll go to Sam's tomorrow and finish up the care packages...get them out as soon as I get SuziQ's church bulletin.

And I think that's it for the things I'm expecting...

I gotta go.

I agree with your sentiments to Rosie.

One day at a time. That's all we can do to make it through this life.

I want a REALLY BIG CATFISH!!!

We're going to a catfish hotspot this afternoon. I hope I catch something worth keeping!! So far I've only caught a couple of little sun perch which the kid enjoyed reeling in...

Sigh...I want something I can take all my animosity out on! LOL

LOL! Who can NOT love a woman who dresses comfortably, supports our troops, homeschools two Jedis, wants to raise chickens, knows dozens of easy and quick meal ideas, tells folks to "blow it out their shorts" and admits to liking catfish?!
