Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I think FR, or at least the thread, had a burp, because it hung on my thank you post forever, I resent it and ended up with two.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
LOL!!! It was just awful wasn't it? Much too much of a girl thing for a manly bear huh?
To: HairOfTheDog; Bear_in_RoseBear
News just showed the first troops coming back to Ft. Hood from Iraq. Thank you Jesus!!! Every one of those guys that comes home safe is an answered prayer.
To: Wneighbor
Neat. But I missed it. I haven't had the TV on all day! - I always have the TV on! - This whole day has been discombobulated from the start!
To: Wneighbor
LOL!
Say, I stole found some cool animated bear GIFs on another thread... expect to see them in the near future!

You know, I never heard the word "discombobulated" until I moved to Texas.

I noticed you were MIA this morning. I was also gone most of the day so I didn't find out you appeared until I got home. But, I heard 2J got an order to call you. LOL We're getting awfully motherish in the Hobbit Hole with all these check-in calls. HA!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
We will be watching for them.
What, you don't get discombobulated in Mich?
To: Wneighbor
Well, what we learned is that we all need to have at least one contact person who knows our phone number, for just these kinds of situations!
How else will anyone know if we get swept away by an orc? or a twister?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
And now you have heard discombobulated from someone who has never been to Texas!
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, the night I stayed up watching the tornados going toward Tulsa I gave 2J my phone, cell phone and Myranda's cell phone numbers. In case she needed and could find a phone to get help digging out.
Fortunately, she didn't need it. But, had this been my kid I'd have been headed toward her (and the twister) just because taking action is better than sitting. I still thought about going that way. Storm watching you know.
To: Wneighbor
What, you don't get discombobulated in Mich?We did, but we had other words for it! For instance, I used to say I was "kerflunkt". And no, I don't know if I'm spelling that right... but that's how it sounded.

Are you sure you weren't a Texan in a previous life?

My parents, who never lived south of Centralia Washington, used the word "discombobulated" all the time. I heard it constantly as I was growing up.
Probably because my actions discombobulated everything around the house.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Are you sure you weren't a Texan in a previous life? She definitely has leanings. Horses, outdoors, dogs, country life, militia dudes.
To: Wneighbor
Storm watching you know. I can dig it.
To: Wneighbor
Why thank y'all very much!
To: Wneighbor
I think she'd fit in down here right fine.

I appreciate that you think I might have been!
To: Scott from the Left Coast
I don't know what parent could raise kids without the word discombobulated.
