Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hey! That's the best time to go!! When we have our girl cousin reunions, that's when we do our shopping! I love the Super Wal Marts. You can get your groceries, clothes, lightbulbs, whatever, all at the same time! Wish we had one of those up here!

Unfortunately "our" Wal-mart (it's about forty miles away, in NH) closes at 10:00 or so. But I love shopping late in the evening! There's almost no one there, and you don't feel rushed or anything. I like doing my grocery shopping at odd hours, too. Wish we had more stores that were open late up here!

I'll find AAA and see about it then. Baby isn't due till the end of November so I've got time. I tend to procrastinate though. So, I need to get it on the list.

And now, I've got a lunch appointment. I can't figure out why ladies from church etc. think that because I've got this time off I WANT to go eat and spend my money in restaurants with them. I DO NOT like to spend money. Especially on food when I cook well enough myself. (not counting hell freezing over and actually finding someone I would date) And frankly, I would rather sit here and putter around the house and make no outside contact! Now what is really wrong with that? It's my time off and I'm tired of these wimmin bothin' me!!!! < /rant

At least she doesn't want to go to that flippin' tea room downtown.

Now, a political freep or a moot!!!! That would be fun!

You have a passport, right? ;-) Can't procrastinate on those. I think it usually takes six weeks to get one.

I cheated and went to a US Embassy in Germany. Took me about two hours!

They aren't very big each...two books together make a normal sized paperback.

And yet, they're never big enough. I remember finishing LOTR the first time, and thinking "That's IT? There isn't any more?". I just wanted the story to go on and on. There's a whole universe out there, and we get only a tiny peek.

The real fun comes in rereading the books. The good guys become old friends, and you just are more aware of what's happening.

That's why I was sold on PJ's interpretation of LOTR in the movie. The first time I watched it, I intentionally started out to be as critical as possible. The opening scene caused my doubts to waver, and the scenes from the Shire just melted my heart. Anybody who could read my mind and put on the screen such cherished images had my trust. Although PJ pushed that trust to the limit with his Ent/Isengard and Frodo/Faramir changes.

Yep. I have a passport from missions. It's good for 2-1/2 more years. THEY BETTER BE BACK BY THEN!!!

I'm thinking.... car rental.... for one day.... high perfermance..... Autobahn!

Just because I'm going to do the motherly grandmotherly thing doesn't mean I ought to not get a half DAY to do something fun does it???????????

I think that open-endedness of the whole other universe is provides the unique atmosphere that allowed Hobbit Holers to develop into a fast group of friends. There is so much in Tolkien's universe that's good to explore that it takes much time to really exercise those insights. Once that was going on for a long time everyone was just naturally friends.

*looks down* I confess I was just a lurker for a long time. But, when I finally posted I felt I knew everyone. And then after a bit everyone has sort of got to know me. And only a "story" with the depth of Tolkien could allow us to discuss it long enough to build personal relationships?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to get really excited about this. Tickets are expensive, but we saw them once before and it was one of those concerts you will NEVER forget. Note mando-playing elf dude in the middle...he's amazing. Makes me want to burn my own mando, though...
