Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Walmart is a great place to get basics- like slacks and shorts and simple blouses and socks. I shop there a lot. I'll throw on a snazzy blazer from a dept. store and look great wearing mostly basics from Wal-mart.

Hey do you think there would be a copy of LOTR's at a second hand book store? I am thinking of stopping at the one here while I am in town today, to have something to read this weekend at the ride during off times. Or is it considere sacreligious to sell/trade:)?

My Mom was only 54...we had about a month's notice before she died. I'm just remembering all those last days when she was sick. That's been the hardest thing these past few weeks, and Mother's Day was rough, of course.

I wish she could have known grandchildren, and that she could have been there for the younger kids as they grow up. I worry about them, though of course Dad is wonderful. But their lives are going to be very different from mine.

I guess as things go, I'm the lucky one. But I miss having her to confide in.

Hello everyone!

Dark, dreary and soggy here today. I just want to crawl back into bed and nurse my aching head. Ugh! I've taken 2 Motrin, but nothing seems to get rid of it. I had 2 glasses of wine last night (not even half full) and I apparantly have become such a lightweight that I find myself with a hangover this morning. *shudder*

Now I know why I don't drink that much!

On to breakfast, but pardon my grumbling. Breakfast lasagne this morning...layers of scrambled eggs, mushrooms, bacon, cheese, onions and peppers. Ice cold orange juice is in the icebox and coffee is steaming on the sideboard. 6 platters of bacon strips and ham slices are on the table. OT, your hash browns are on the hot plate. ENJOY!

Becky, before the movies came out, maybe. But you can get the cheapo paperback versions at Wal-Mart or Sam's. You can buy them one at a time. Still, I'd recommend you start with The Hobbit.

2 things: 1. I've been told that to cure a hangover from wine, drink wine, 2. Hangovers are caused because alcohol dehydrates the brain, drink a big glass of water and the headache goes away.

But your headache is probably just from the damp weather.

Start with the Hobbit? Okay. How many LOTR, books are there? What is the order they go in by title, will it say on the book, I don't want to read the last first:)

The Hobbit is first, and is rather light-hearted for the most part...unless you know the rest of the story. Then the reading of the Hobbit can filled with foreboding, but you won't know why until you read the Lord of the Rings and then go back and read the Hobbit.

The Lord of the Rings is broken into six books. The first two books are called The Fellowship of the Ring, the second two books are called The Two Towers and the third two books (with an excellent appendix) is called The Return of the King.
