The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

You don't want to know. - Plausible deniability.
To: HairOfTheDog
Right. Ok. Let's talk about, um, something safe.
It was nasty weather here all day, and then about 4 o'clock, it cleared up and I was able to get some exercise. That was nice.

I am needing to go work Bay tonight.... but I am waiting for Sam to post his toast first!
So maybe I will eat something.
To: HairOfTheDog
Why? I skipped dinner. Exercise kills my appetite.

'Cuz I am hungry!

Oh. Well then.
I'm reading a book by Arthur Clarke from the 40s. It's describing a space voyage, pretty well for being so old. But then in the middle of a paragraph someone starts worrying about his typewriter down in the cargo hold. It's so jarring. I just laughed out loud.

LONG-EXPECTED PARTY
Well, the Long Expected Party is almost here.
Once again, so many of us are gathered in joy and happiness to celebrate a marriage of two beautiful young souls
The road goes ever on and on, Down from the door where it began
They will soon begin their shared voyage and journey through the joys and the sorrows, the dangers, the hopes and fears, the ups and downs, the twists and turns, the discoveries, the proud accomplishments of their shared adventure, their life together.
Their true love will be their inspiration and their guide, the star that they will follow over the seas of their marriage,
Until finally, after many years, the day comes when they must board the ship That passes over the horizon on the straight road that leaves the physical earth.
Will you all please join me in raising a glass to _ and _, in hopes that all their dreams will be fulfilled, and all things will come to pass as they could wish, and that they will live in sunlight, happiness and joy, forever.
To: JenB
LOL!
To: Sam Cree
I think it is beautiful Sam!
[snif!]
To: Sam Cree
Yep! - Hear Hear!
To: Sam Cree
Excellent Sam. That's really nice.

Are you guys seeing the graphic (Mr. Write logo) on my weblog page? Maybe it's just not showing up here at home? The link also doesn't show on my profile page. But it's never a problem from the office.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Oh, I'm sure of that... just got an email from her asking if it was ok to kill the customer she had on the phone... I hope you told her Vin was waiting to help her out.
She's probably home now. Tell her I said that on the occasions when I have to call Dell about our computers at work the people I've talked with are among the nicest most pleasant in the business. It is a pleasure to talk with them. There is no run-around even if it takes a couple of transfers to get you to the right people and everyone is always willing to give you a call-back number if you need it. These days you just don't get that from most businesses. I know they must have to put up with some real ugly customers but contrary to a lot of companies I have never found a Dell person difficult to deal with.
To: Corin Stormhands
Yep.;.. shows up just fine!
To: Corin Stormhands
You got cache trouble?
To: Corin Stormhands
I see your Mr. Write just fine.
To: Lil'freeper
Oh my. oh my my my.... yes, I like that depth. Yes yes yes

Dirty Dancing was filmed in my home county at Mountain Lake Resort. It was supposed to be the Catskills. Biggest thing that ever happened to Giles County, VA. (population 17,000)oh oh. We won't mention this to my kid in Germany. She has worn out 3 videos of that movie. I mean worn out. Not "got scratchy". Busted, not repairable, broke. For this last Christmas she got the DVD. Her last video bit the dust over a year before. It was reported to me that as soon as the DVD began she was reciting all the lines of the movie again. She knows the whole dialogue and in a years time she didn't forget any of it. So, if you know all the words..... why do you need the DVD?
We just won't tell her a HHD is from near there. She's heard too much about the HH. She would try to crash the county.
