The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hey, it could happen. It happened on one of the "Survivor" series (don't know if you ever watched Survivor!) Anyway, one of the players got woozy tending the cookfire and fell into it... burned his hands, arms, and torso so bad that they had to airlift him to a hospital and he had to quit the game.

I remember that one. It was in the last series I watched. Australia. I think his name was Michael. I guess it's a feasible story. But, nowdays, it would never fly. Someone would be accused, guilty or no.

They'd have to get a good lawyer and sue the wood manufacturer for making a product that resulted in an unsafe level of carbon monoxide...

OK, what the HECK happened here today? You guys need help!

I went biking again tonight, just over two miles. I don't have any stamina at all. If I could have I would have given up after the first mile, but I had to bike back to the car. Now I feel pretty good, actually.

Something is up at work but I don't think I need to worry about it. I actually had a good day. And I got a transcript from my old school... not too horrible.

Well, I finally found out what has been going on with my web host (FeaturePrice.com). My account is about up anyway, so as soon as I have time, I'll be switching to a new host. Been busy working two jobs again lately. Later.

Attorney General investigates Featureprice

Todd Jurkowski
LEE COUNTY, May 16, 2003 - NBC2 confirmed Fort Myers-based Featureprice.com is the subject of an investigation by the Economic Crimes Unit of the Office of the Attorney General after hundreds of customers complained about shoddy service and lost money. Angry customers organized a massive email campaign to get the media’s attention about the company.
PACKING UP

“That sounds about right. I personally think they're nothing but a bunch of criminals,” said John Cassidy, a former customer.

There are hundreds more dissatisfied Featureprice.com customers.

The Florida Attorney General's Office said they have received more than 600 complaints about the company. People from all over the country complained that Featureprice.com paralyzed their business.

John Cassidy of Anchorage, Alaska was one of their victims.

“Nobody could visit my web site, enter it, see what services I was offering or buy any products,” said Cassidy.

Feature Price basically charges money to post other company's web sites on the Internet. But since January, customers said Featureprice.com failed them.

Customers said it has been nearly impossible to get a Featureprice.com employee on the line, and when they did, they were rude.

“Saying hey I have a problem here. They started calling you an idiot. They're totally rude to people on the phone,” said Cassidy.

NBC2 went to the office of Featureprice.com on Jackson Street in Fort Myers. By the looks of the office, employees appeared to be working harder at packing than customer service.

One employee tried incessantly to block our camera’s view with a jacket. Another just ignored NBC2’s knocking at the door. When our camera peered in the door to their office, two employees of Featureprice.com moved to the back of the office, but not before one of them dropped his pants and exposed himself.

Officials from the Economic Crimes Unit of the Office of the Attorney General got their attention Thursday. They took company records and employee depositions.

The attorney for Featureprice.com said he could not comment because of the ongoing investigation. He said the company has had money troubles and talks are in the works for someone to buy the company.

The ECU has not filed any charges, but investigators are trying to get service restored for each customer or a refund of their money.

If memory serves, you're not supposed to plant them too deep and not when it's wet.

I can handle the not too deep part, but not likely to be dry anytime soon.

Well...I see plenty of Chuck Taylor wearing kids around! And work pants seem to be all the rage as well.

Rosie's right 2J. You're more hip than the capri pants people. We just had to outfit Jr. for his youth choir production. I bought him a used Kroger work shirt at a thrift store. He's wearing that with cargo shorts and his bright blue Pumas.
