The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I totally understand the over-protective parent thing, Seamus! LOL!
I will refer to them as "unmentionables" from now on! :)

I REFUSE to call them "panties"!I don't blame you.... It is a hard word to take seriously.
Prayers for Jess, and hope they can solve the headaches.... man, any kind of chronic pain wears on a cheerful disposition and I hope she is soon free of it.
To: Overtaxed
Excellent! I'll be watching for them. They are all I'm really waiting for, except for Ruthy's check which should get here today, at the latest tomorrow. I'll go shopping this weekend and send off the next five care packages and Wneighbor's sil's package early next week (or whenever the Slim Jims arrive.)
I'm hearing lots of rumors that the 82nd is preparing to come home soon. I'm so happy for them.

Hm...guess I don't have to worry about age catching up with me for a few more years. I'm only JUST starting to get to the point where I'm not annoyed for being mistaken for being younger than I am.
Just came back from fixing some printer settings on a PC on the other side of the building and there's a "career fair" or some such going on for kids from eighth to 12th grade, or so I gather. I almost got yelled at for going outside the bounds of where the younger kids are allowed to go on campus, but another staff member stuck up for me. The lady apologized and said she thought I was one of the tenth graders.

"NO! Those words do NOT apply to my daughter until she's MUCH, MUCH OLDER! Like 35!" LOL! About the same time she's allowed to date, right? ;-)
To: Overtaxed
He'd love to have a pint. I just don't think he'd want to be tossed...... unless we are talking about some other connotation here.... but, this is a family thread. anyway, Hair would not stand for that.
To: Wneighbor
Maybe I should ask CD if he would toss a Flat Frodo.
To: RosieCotton
LOL! About the same time she's allowed to date, right? ;-)Precisely! And that is after the suitor suffers a rigorous Parental Screening Process. The Application To Date My Daughter is 15 pages, and that's just the starting point! LOL

The lady apologized and said she thought I was one of the tenth graders. Last week in Ardmore several of the people there had a hard time believing I was old enough to have Myranda for a daughter. Then, I dropped the bomb on 'em about 27 year old Jill. I just love it. I don't always look my best but on good days I can still pass for 30ish.

Maybe I should ask CD if he would toss a Flat Frodo. Hair are you paying attention? Can we have Flat Frodo tossed?
To: Wneighbor
I get exactly the opposite. Folks tend to think that I'm older than I am. The grim face and greying hair seems to throw them, thinking I'm in my late 30's, rather than 26.

To: Wneighbor; Overtaxed; HairOfTheDog
Frodo must not be tossed.
Hobbits are sturdy creatures, but needless tossing may damage their more "sensitive" parts.

It is just so undignified.
To: HairOfTheDog
Not to mention, downright disrespectful to handle a Ringbearer that way!

HA! I'm at an age where I practically beg folks to card me for cigs and beer!I'm just FINALLY getting to a point where I feel a bit flattered. Usually it annoys me. I've been in situations where I'm trying to hang out with people my own age, and they brush me off as some annoying kid. I used to want to get a t-shirt with my birth date on it so people would take me seriously!
Maybe it's just a hobbitty attribute...I'm still in my tweens!
To: HairOfTheDog
I mean, really. Can you imagine someone tossing Gandalf or Galadriel? Harumph!
