The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I'm slim everywhere but two places. Take a ten pound bag of sugar and stick it on either hip and that's where I'm pudgy!
I just wear long large tee-shirts to cover it up.

Well get yourself and your kids bikes and meet me down at the Soccer fields. I ride from there to the YMCA and back sometimes. It's a nice bike trail by the river. Ever been on it.

The start of the bike trail is (for me anyway) is at the Bixby Soccer Fields. They are at 151 and Riverview. East of Memorial, you know east from west:) You leave there go to the river down the river, cross the river on the old bridge, down Memorial turn around in the YMCA parking lot and go back.

The Wall is good.... but some of my favorite Pink Floyd stuff is on
The Final Cut and
A Momentary Lapse Of Reason . The boys could write lyrics that cut to the heart of the matter.
Pink Floyd
The Final Cut (1983)
the gunners dream?
floating down through the clouds
memories come rushing up to meet me now
in the space between the heavens
and in the corner of some foreign field
i had a dream
i had a dream
goodbye max
goodbye ma
after the service when you're walking slowly to the car
and the silver in her hair shines in the cold november air
you hear the tolling bell
and touch the silk in your lapel
and as the tear drops rise to meet the comfort of the band
you take her frail hand
and hold on to the dream
a place to stay
enough to eat
somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street
where you can speak out loud
about your doubts and fears
and what's more no-one ever disappears
you never hear their standard issue kicking in your door
you can relax on both sides of the tracks
and maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control
and everyone has recourse to the law
and no-one kills the children anymore
and no-one kills the children anymore
night after night
going round and round my brain
his dream is driving me insane
in the corner of some foreign field
the gunner sleeps tonight
what's done is done
we cannot just write off his final scene
take heed of the dream
take heed

STEVE'S HOME! Dang! - No more flashbacks to Pink Floyd? [harumph] Where's g'nad?
To: HairOfTheDog
If I admit that I've never heard any Pink Floyd and I don't know what this Wall is... will you please not educate me?
Turns out choir was cancelled. I did vote, though.

I don't think I would be able to educate you about Pink Floyd from here anyway. I would have to be there, and I have long forgotten where to find the ingredients.
To: HairOfTheDog
Ingredients? Like... illegal ingredients?
Please remember, at Entmoot, I'll be trying to get into grad school. Busted for suspicion of being around people who may be in posession of weird substances wouldn't look good.
Smokeweed and beers are fine!

Darling, don't worry a bit. I said I have long forgotten!

Ok then.... *eyes Hair warily*. I guess you're a responsible conservative pony parent now...

I guess you're a responsible conservative pony parent now... Yes, but I like that you might eye me warily.... It makes me seem much more interesting!

Oh yeah, you get into a good beat and you can run your legs off. They don't need their legs. Nope. My exercise comes from pushing the bike out of the garage. It used to be a lot more exercise when that meant up a gravel incline. Now, it's a regular old concrete driveway sloped toward the road. Life got easier in that respect when I moved to town.
To: HairOfTheDog; JenB
Hi! I'm back from a brisk forty minute walk with Fiona, and thinking about compensating by having a good sized serving of ice cream!
Hm...I guess my exercise plan needs work, eh?
To: RosieCotton
Your excercise plan is better than mine! - I have been sitting at my flippin' desk all day. You have guilted me into going out and working my horse.
Back in a bit.

I don't think I would be able to educate you about Pink Floyd from here anyway. I would have to be there, and I have long forgotten where to find the ingredients. Unfortunately, Myranda comes home and still tells me she hears about those ingredients daily. And, many of her friends think Pink Floyd is their generation. LOL
To: Wneighbor
And, many of her friends think Pink Floyd is their generation. LOL Actually, that gives me comfort that at least some of the younger generation will 'get' me!
OK! - I am off to move around a bit.... tennies on!
To: HairOfTheDog; Wneighbor; JenB
Anyone up for a short chat in forty minutes or so?
To: HairOfTheDog
Have fun.
