The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!
Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Boy, I wish Corin were here! He could give me negative attention over that precious. Negative attention is better than no attention.
Corin!!!! Where are you????

And Run Like Hell...excellent song to run to! I told you I used to run, didn't I? Lots o' running! Lots! Hours of running! Well, this was one of my favorite songs to run with on the treadmill...Running on Empty was another. I had a whole tape of them...

Yeah, we can tell Bear's gone too. Notice there was no repeated post at all?
I need to pay better attention so I can show Corin how much I've learned from him.

I think the entire album is a very good demonstration of being absolutely at rock bottom and then attempting to claw your way out of it. Not bad...
There is hope at the end, but the middle is pretty bleak.
Pink Floyd
The Wall (1979)
Outside The Wall
All alone, or in twos,
The ones who really know you,
Walk up and down outside the wall.
Some hand in hand,
Some gather together in bands,
The bleeding hearts and artists,
Make their stand.
And when they've given you their all,
Some stagger and fall.
After all it's not easy,
Banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall.
Did you see the film when it came out? It was excellent. Very dark, but excellent. I spent two days explaining The Wall to my mother, and she went with me to see the film. I will never forget how hard she tried to understand exactly what was so important about The Wall.

Snaig is the Gaelic word for snag or steal. WNeighbor snagged the Precious (00 post).

HEE HEE HEE When I raced I had a tape of songs to go through before the race. Started as soon as I got off work on race days. cars though, not foot racing. don't want to get that mixed up.
To: HairOfTheDog
Yes, I saw it with my boyfriend when it first came out. I only remember it was very bizarre, but I couldn't remember much about it 15 minutes after it was over.
I need to watch it again as a grown-up.

Pink Floyd
The Wall (1979)
Run Like Hell
You better make your face up,
In your favorite disguise,
With your button-down lips,
And your roller blind eyes.
With your empty smile,
And your hungry heart,
Feel the bile rising,
From your guilty past.
With your nerves in tatters,
As the cockleshell shatters,
And the hammers batter,
Down your door,
You better run.
You better run all day,
And run all night.
And keep your dirty feelings deep inside.
And if you're taking your girlfriend out tonight,
You better park the car well out of sight.
'Cause if they catch you in the back seat,
Trying to pick her locks,
They're gonna send you back to Mother,
In a cardboard box.
You better run!
To: Wneighbor; All
Ratz!
He's not your boss anymore?
Well, I gotta log off and get ready for bed as I get up aroud 4:00 in the morning to go to work. So you have a great evening.
Good night everybody!
To: 2Jedismom
I need to watch it again as a grown-up. I bet you are too grown up and content and sensible to get the angst now.
To: Wneighbor
Oh yeah, you get into a good beat and you can run your legs off.

Maybe so...maybe such angst is best left to the young to endure?

Yes, angst is much better suffered by the young.

Yeah right, you're about as pudgy as Olive Oyl:) I almost didn't think it was you yesterday when I first pulled up, I could only see one kid and this little lady. I was thinking of you discrption of your self and thought that's not her:)
If your pudgy I'm a two ton tinny.

I used to run a lot! Half marathons (13 miles) and even a full marathon once. I'm at least 20lb heavier than I ever have been in my life.
I wish I could run again, just can't find a place I feel safe and can't leave the kids.
