The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Where are our dwarves this morning?

Waiting for Ruthy to show up with the bacon, I imagine.

I have it saved in my favorite file, but do not know how to make links. Can you link things that are that old and before FR changed formats? I am computer illiterate.

Morning everyone!

I caught up on the posts and I think it's so neat that 2J and Becky got together for a quick moot yesterday! I was thinking it may be easier for Becky to rent The Fellowship of the Ring than to get the time to read it. I'm certain once she sees the movie, she'll see the interest in reading the books. And if not, at least she'll have some idea of what we're talking about! LOL!

Corin - get in here, Master Dwarf! I've got bacon and steaks this morning! Please don't leave me with all of the Elveses! They do nothing but complain... "Where are the lembas?..."Whose tiara fell into my oatmeal?!"...and so on. Not to mention all of the accursed singing ALL the time! AARRGGHH! ;)

Breakfast is ready everyone! Fried eggs and ribeye steaks are on the table, along with OT's hash browns. 7 platters of bacon and plump sausages, as well as, blueberry muffins and some lovely cheese biscuits! Coffee is brewed and juices are chilled! ENJOY!

DAWNTREADER - Where are you!? Where is VIM? PENNY1? LIBARIAN? Hello!? G'NAAAAAAD!!!!???

Your description of that mouth-watering breakfast made Becky's bran cereal seem like, well, just bran cereal. Can't hold a candle to bacon and rib-eyes!

I will probably rent the movie soon. But I have always enjoyed reading more then watching movies or TV. And I have seen very few movies made from books that were as good as the book, IMO:). But as you say, if I am going to hang here the movie would probably be a quick fix for my lack of understanding.

The book is WAY better than the movie, but Peter Jackson did a wonderful job bringing it to life. You'd think it was impossible to do, but he acheived far more than anyone could have dreamed and it was beyond my expectations.
