Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Just don't move to the People's Republik of Maryland!

I think you should name one of the chickens "Whoopi"
To: 2Jedismom
Do you know how long chickens live, if nothing kills them? I've never had any make it that long.

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!
To: PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain
From what I understand, a broiler rooster is only 2-3 months old. We WILL eat the rooster if we accidently get one...there will be no crowing coming from this yard!
But we ordered two pullets...but it's not an exact science from what I understand. No way you can say "This is a rooster...see it's little nuggets?"

Feathers are more work than fur. You spend a lot of time plucking.

What Books do I need to be reading, and why?

You know what is funny? - I once lost all my ID, and had to get another, about a year after graduating high school. We were fussing around on the phone trying to get a combination of proofs as to who I was, and they said they would accept my high school annual with my picture by my name!
To: Pippin
Morning to you, Pips!

The LOTR books!
Why? - Well, because it is the right thing to do!

"Just don't move to the People's Republik of Maryland!"
I second that advice!
To: 2Jedismom
No crowing.....is that because of neighbors, or because you don't want crowing?
Becky
To: Pippin; Lil'freeper
OK - I won't! - Seems like a headache to get there anyhow!
To: HairOfTheDog; 2Jedismom
OOHHHH....I thought she was talking about some kind of chicken book. Yeah, I am going to read them, but it will probably be when the hot hot summer gets here, or even next winter. I read alot more in winter. I'm an outdoor person in summer. Hate the cold.

Neighbors. It might not even bother them, but I don't want to risk it...

I second that advice! That's right, I forgot you share my pain. *sigh* Heading down to Ft. McHenry a little later today with Frodo, thankfully the sun is shining and it is a lovely day.
