Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Sounds like the same thing. Folks reviewing it were talking about the quality of the film when moved to DVD. They weren't impressed, apparently. I'll still give it a look!
I agree totally! Kids like that just make me SO mad. I guess their Mamas didn't teach them manners.
That's so nice. After Myranda's dad walked out I had a couple of friends that used to take me riding until I got on my feet enough to get a bike for myself. They actually helped me get my first "own" bike. I'd always dated and married guys with great bikes. But, these guys laughed because as we talked about me buying my own the topic was... well, it's better than the situations I kept getting myself into by dating and marrying guys with great bikes. And they were surprisingly cool about it for old OL bikers who typically think a woman on a bike is not allowed. They'd been both taking me on rides and to events with them for about 4 years (since all 3 of us had spouses walk out in the same month) I mentioned that I might like to try to get my own bike. With outlaw bikers that would normally be when they got all macho on you and started saying only if you can pick it up and do all the guy stuff. But, instead, these guys told me that they would take care of maintenance on my bike forever. :-)
And, I have been to Pittsburgh on business. I thought it was a beautiful city. A lot of people didn't seem to share my opinion. When I was there it was in the fall when leaves were all changing colors and that whole week I was so wishing I had my bike up there because I thought it would be a beautiful place to ride. Of course then another time I was in Pittsburgh. Spent 6 hours in the airport due to storms in the area. Wasn't supposed to be in Pittsburgh but was flying from Scranton to Chicago and they landed the plane in Pittsburgh because of tornadoes in the area. That 6 hours was interesting.
Myranda just got home. She took a little flack for me doing that. But, she said most of the kids were supporting me because the kid is an obnoxious brat. She says he's a freshman with divorced parents and a mommy who's rich enough to not have to work and live in the top-notch part of town and buy him every little thing he wants. He doesn't get punished.
She ought to be beaten too. People should be responsible for their kids. I can understand when parents genuinly try to make kids behave and they don't. But, when the parents don't discipline, they ought to bear the brunt of it.
Sounds like Myranda has smart friends!
I kind of like that Man of Rohan look. since there are no elves. Perhaps a Man of Rohan could make me feel better tonight.

That about sounds like me on my first viewing of FOTR...only it was a bunch of Bi- er, I mean girls, who's mama's never turned them on their knee and spanked them either.

Of course it doesn't help Myranda's friend situation any that when she was young I found in Proverbs a verse that defends a parent's right to choose friends. She's known her whole life that she can't use that line on me about picking her friends. LOL
But, she does make good choices MOST of the time. And she's fixing to be 18 so I don't say a whole lot anymore unless she asks. But, since she got a good background I really don't feel the need to say much. Yes, occasionally I still do... but not often. She is just so good COMPARED to her sister that she almost always gets a benefit of the doubt just for that. Parents are so unfair aren't they? LOL
I doubt if any pristine source material exists any more to make a good DVD. Still, the movie is a hoot, and gives more of a view of socialist thinking of the past (which hasn't changed to this very day), than a science fiction view of the future.
Actually, I think he is. He and I used to have a really close relationship. :-) He's another one of those guys that I stay away from now. *sigh*
