The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Believe me...I couldn't get away with it. Mom tried to talk him into it once, and if SHE couldn't do it, I certainly can't! ;-)
If I had room on my property, maybe, but I don't. I'll enjoy hearing about your experiences, though!

Morning! - This is a horrid Seattle day and I have to leave in a little over an hour. All day meeting, long drive, at least they are serving lunch.Watch out for those dirty bombs....

Rosie, I'm thinkin' you just need to buy a farm...

Oh, yes. Hugh Laurie absolutely captures Bertie in the way that Jeremy Brett (I think that's his last name) captured Sherlock Holmes. He delivered lines that I thought were simply impossible to transfer from the written word convincingly.

We have lived her for 22yrs. Just in the past 2 yrs. People are moving in here right and left:( My closest neighbor before that was 1/2 mile either way, now I have them on both sides. Our house is a Jim Walters home that we finished on the inside ourselves, so it is just a frame home. My barn is a 6 stall loafing shed, and our shop is built out of used barn tin. Our place is not junky we keep it well pickedup. In fact ours is one of the few out here that the whole 5 acre lot gets used. Been here long enough to have got it where it is. I think it's a pretty place for the country. Especially up here it's nothing but rocks and scruboak.
The new people moving in are building homes that are just unbelieveable. Having the yards around the houses landscaped. Some of them are trying to start a homeowners ass. That really worries me. They can't make me do anything, because we are grandfathered in under the old covenants, but they could sure make life unpleasant.

Okay, so this is for anyone who wants to play. I'm getting my blog up and running. I need a Tolkien quote.
The whole thing (blog) will be sort of stream of consciousness writing about politics, religion and life in general. So I need some inspiration.
Your thoughts? What part of the books should I quote?

Rosie, I'm thinkin' you just need to buy a farm...I almost wish! I DO want to buy property with more land someday. We'll see what happens. If in ten years I'm still single and have some cash saved up, maybe I'll get something further out of the way! Not like there aren't plenty of places like that around here...
Or maybe I'll marry someone with a nice farm and plenty of garden space. ;-)

What a nightmare! The people down the street from me have a lime green couch under their tree, but they are the nicest folks...and you can get away with most anything, which has it's good points and bad.

Thanks. Ya gotta love it! Cholesterol Heaven! Are you afraid the liberals may attempt to shut the thread down for fear of promoting bad health
hobbits?

You know what you should get? I have it and I love it and use it now and then. It's a book called "The Encyclopedia of Country Living" by Carla Embry. She's a loon, but I really like her book!

Does Mack know you're hanging out in here?
How long until SD starts missing you?

Some of them are trying to start a homeowners ass.I'm SO glad there's NOTHING like that around here! I try to keep my place nice, but what I do with it is my business...I don't know how I'd react to someone telling me what I could and could not have on my land.
I was annoyed enough when the insurance people decided I had to put a railing up by my side door or they'd discontinue my insurance. And at least that is somewhat logical!

Are you afraid the liberals may attempt to shut the thread down for fear of promoting bad health hobbits? We've fended off our share of trolls and orcs from the thread.

What part of the books should I quote? How about...
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West, for your King shall come again, and he shall dwell among you all the days of your life.

I really don't think they would try anything about my place, as I said we are pretty free of junk, we do have our business equipment parked behind the shop but it is not junk. There are quite of few places up here that have junk cars, laying around, several places that really ratty looking fence around them. Places that have no grass just dirt yards. So even though my house, barn and shop do not come up to the current covenants there are a lot worse places around. Those places really don't bother me, that is why I moved out here in the first place, to be left alone, and to leave alone:) I think my husband and I have the reputation around here of being a bit eccentric:), he has been spotted a few times patroling the perimiter of our property with a gun slung over his shoulder:) LOL, we homeschooled our kids which carries a stigma, especially when we did it, and I went to one of their homeowener ass. meetings one time, and let it be known they had better leave us alone, my place is bought, and paid for, has been here longer then 90% of the places out here, and I wasn't changing nothing.
Our house sits with the back to the road, and we left alot of the trees and brush from the road to the house, so everything is pretty hidden from view. We are really good neighbors, have always helped anyone when they need it, I just don't want to be bothered with that kind of stuff.
Sorry for the ramble. Is this considered spam?

LOL, yeah Mack knows, and I don't think SD would ever miss me:)
But this is not good. I just got the NES habit broke, now I find all these people that I have so much in common with. But it is raining right now, so I really couldn't be riding anyway.

Sorry for the ramble. Is this considered spam? No way! Your post actually had a point besides reaching a post number that ends with at least two zeroes!

No, it's not spam...spam is when someone (usually Corin) posts a whole lot of nonsense in order to get a post ending with 00. It's very embarrassing.
;-)
They call it "The Precious", but it has no power over me.
I would love to see your place! You sound just like my kind of people! I would love a Jim Walters Home that we could do ourselves...we can do a lot...even put up the siding and the sheetrock and everything. We couldn't do the wiring or the plumbing, but otherwise, we could do it all. Steve and I are very good at that kind of thing.
