Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good morning! It's nice out...we were supposed to get rain all week, but they changed it to "partly cloudy", which is perfect, IMO. Had plenty of rain last night and the night before, though, and everything is REALLY greening up now. It may sound strange to some of you folks, but we're FINALLY getting leaves on the trees! I love this time of year.
And I finally have a few little things growing in my herb bed. I just hope they're what's supposed to be growing and not weeds! They'll have to get a little bigger before I can tell. I'm really glad to see sprouts there - I was getting worried!
Ksen...can you freepmail me your snail mail address? I get paid this week and want to send the deposit thing, but didn't know how much to send or where to send it.
To: Corin Stormhands
You were still typing that from the bar, weren't you? ROFLMAO!!!
Oh, that was a good laugh to start the morning off right
Good morning everyone.

but didn't know how much to send or where to send it. I can take it off your hands! How much do you want to send?

It may sound strange to some of you folks, but we're FINALLY getting leaves on the trees! I love this time of year. We're finally through most of the heavy pollen. Plus, it's been so wet here that I mowed Thursday and could do so again today.
Remind me about this in August when we're out of water again...

Guess you'll have to keep wondering. I don't have time for spam.I bet Ruthy don't fix no spam for breakfast! She hasn't fed us spam since I've been here!
Well, anyway, find time to pop in and tell us about any real offers
you may get.
To: Corin Stormhands
You know, a little puntuation editing and I could be really offended by that... Another good chuckle for my morning. And that statement wasn't even made as a play-on-words dwarf bash. I was defending your honor in those wars.

Okay I got some bonus money with it and the services of their relocation people (but they're not going to buy my house if it doesn't sell.) Now I have to find out how expensive it is to move (or heck, I may just warehouse the stuff) and figure out the "if I don't sell my house before" date.
I have to stay with the company for a year or give the bonus money back. (Man! This is going to whack out my tax returns bigtime!)
Part of me says "it's too much trouble" and the other part says..."well see if your house can sell first."
Think I might be sipping JD's Hard Cola and flipping coins tonight.

I'm really glad to see sprouts there - I was getting worried! If I were literate in html I would post one of those little happy jumpy smileys. I love seeing the new sprouts. I have baby borage coming up. First time I've gotten it to grow in the bed. I'm excited too!
We have your cloudiness today. But, that's good. We've had a few sunny days and I could use a shower on my plants. So, it's my turn for rain, your turn for sun. I like how easy it is to share in the Hobbit Hole. (except for spam)

Morning! - This is a horrid Seattle day and I have to leave in a little over an hour. All day meeting, long drive, at least they are serving lunch.
To: Pippin
Howdy PIP!!! I'm so glad you're going to be at entmoot. I know it's going to be fun.
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, I know it's because you live (near) there. But Seattle is still one of my favorite cities to visit...
To: Wneighbor
I was defending your honor in those wars. And I am profoundly grateful ma'am.

Part of me says "it's too much trouble" and the other part says..."well see if your house can sell first." Why don't you go ahead and put your house on the market now. You might have a fair idea of sales potential by August 1 still. I know the start date is Sept. 1. Perhaps, you could put the bonus check aside, see if your house has good nibbles or potential buyers before Sept. 1. If necesary back out at the last minute. I mean, it's not like they wouldn't do something like that to one of us.

I'll have to take a picture of my mint-in-a-pot when I get the camera from my brother. It's growing like crazy! Lots and lots of leaves and new shoots.
The outdoor batch still hasn't put out any leaves...it's still somewhat green near the roots, so I'm still hoping. If it NEVER comes up, I can always put some of the potted mint out there.
And my tulips have buds! They're late, but I think that's because I planted them so late in the season last year. But they all have buds! I'm REALLY excited about those!

W, we are going to have to bring you along! Posting happy jumping smilies is easy!
Find an image on line and copy the address for just the picture (right click-show properties-select all-copy)
Then type in the html: < img src="address">
Presto!
The smiley place I use provides the code! just click the smilie and copy/paste...... check it out.

:-) That's awesome. The mint in the ground will probably take off shortly. Since the trees are budding out it will probably start to grow and spread along the the leaves. When I get rid of the rust problem on mine I would not mind sending you more if you want to keep your pot intact. Even though I have 3 different beds of mint, I still have another 4 pots of it. I have beds of doublemint (my favorite), spearmint and applement. I have pots of spearmint, chocolate mint, orange mint and grapefruit mint. I have had a tough time keeping peppermint and pineapple mint alive over winter. I was going to buy some more peppermint this spring but haven't found any available locally. :-(
I think bulbs and rhizomes usually take a little longer to bud the first year anyway. I moved and divided part of my irises last fall and the ones that had been in the bed already 1 season bloomed earlier and more profusely than the ones I moved and divided.

Hey Hair, I just had got this from a co-employee, who was listening to Led Zeppelin. I never really listened carefully to the words before. did ya'll know this already?
I don't know if you knew this or not.
Lyrics from "Ramble On" on Led Zeppelin II
Atlantic Records 19127 (Remastered 82633)
Produced by Jimmy Page
Released October 22, 1969
Mine's a tale that can't be told,
My freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old,
When magic filled the air.
It was in the darkest depths of Mordor,
I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum and the evil one crept up,
And slipped away with her.
Ain't nothing I can do no,
I guess Ill keep on rambling.
Im gonna shake.
Gonna ramble on, sing my song.
Gonna work my way around the world.
I can't stop this feeling in my heart,
Gotta keep searching for my baby
