The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Exactly. I guess that's why I fit so well into this mom role.

BTW. My kids know how to behave in the theater. Some would call it child abuse. Other's would call it discipline. Okay, but maybe it's just that same fight as Smeagol/Gollum going on in me.... except it's elf/orc.

Yep Bear. I lived in Austin for 7 years before moving to the center of the universe. Mosheim Texas. It's 14 miles from the north side of Gatesville. 6 miles from W's ranch. When I first signed onto FR I still lived there.
However, now I'm only in Mosheim on weekends and Holidays. I'm working in Wichita Falls, trying to get back home.

Eomer rides a Harley when he's not on horseback??

I like Eomer, and he can wear leather if he wants...but I prefer to imagine him with a horse.

Well, that explains your FReeper name. :)

My wife (Rose in RoseBear) and I have lived in Austin for 13 years now (we just had our anniversary on Dec. 30.) We really like it, even though it is a liberal haven. ;)

I think since we've (well most of us) have given up Spam, that it's time you joined us on the Elbash list...

Hmmmm.....how would Hair choose? Spam or Bash?

Maybe we'll put a poll on the Yahoo site...

I strongly disliked Haldir in FOTR. He was a very good character in the book, but I didn't care for Craig Parker's portrayal at ALL. Hence, at the midnight showing (when I was already kinda slap happy), I couldn't help chuckling a little at his death.

Next time though, though, I had to admit he didn't do such a bad job. I even felt guilty about laughing the first time through.

BTW, some of you might get a kick out of this: in Craig Parker's bio on TORN, it says: "He has just finished putting in a tropical garden in his backyard complete with whistling tree frogs." Maybe it's just me, but that completely cracked me up!

Say, Hair... does one have to vote in the Yahoo poll to be considered as attending the Moot? My attitude has been, y'all decide the date and Rose and I will be there... do I have to go and vote to make it known?

It cracked me up too! - No tropical garden would be complete without whistling tree frogs, though! Everyone knows that!
