Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I have gone and stuck my foot in a Deep South thread. I don't belong there! They are gonna beat me up. Ma'am I am sorry I was detained. But I have stepped in to defend your honor. Hmmm. I didn't catch Hair's first post on this. I just went back and read through the whole thing. Interesting.
Myranda's school does not sponsor school dances. It is a very large high school. A parent group sponsored a prom. The parent group is a bit too permissive for my taste.
Myranda went to that other party this past Saturday night instead. It is also a private party given for seniors by another group of parents. That one is by invitation only. But, I knew she was going to be in a better supervised (or chaperoned) crowd at the one she went to. Nothing racially motivated here, but possibly very similar to that issue. If it's a choice between 2 private parties, as a parent, I want to allow my kid to go to the safest one. So, I don't know that I'm sure all the issues related to this were racial. You know, a lot of times it gets presented to be racial or some such in the press, when maybe there are many other issues involved.
Wasn't about to touch this on the other thread they were getting into some twisting of words. Too close to Corin's religious wars for my taste. The racists would have twisted what I just said to be on their side I'm afraid and I'm not there at all.

Well, from what I can gather from the news reports and the thread, there was an official school dance that was integrated for only the second time this year, and the private white party as an alternative. I don't know if there were numerous private parties for every type of credential....

Wow just checkout your homepage. I have horses too, and ride almost everyday. Where I live I can trail ride for miles. I do competative trail riding several times a year.

2J is just too cheap to get her kids a real pet, like a puppy.
Becky has them because apparently they eat ticks.
I thought about getting a rooster because they have a bunch of them down at the Thurston County Animal shelter. But I figured Gidget would eat it.
