Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

It's in Melbourne, Florida the weekend of January 10th, 2004. We'll be renting the castle for a week, but most folks will be there just for the weekend to watch FOTR and TTT. ksen has been working on getting us a private theatre viewing of ROTK on Saturday as well.
This is the link to the castle.
The more folks stay at the castle, the less expensive it will be. I think we've almost got enough to secure the reservation already, so it's only a matter of the cost of getting there and your share of the lodging expenses.
It really shouldn't be that expensive with so many HHDs putting money into the kitty. :)

I can do that!
I'll take a greyhound bus or fly out there.
How do I sign up for it?

Do you know the way to the Yahoo Hobbit Hole?
There are polls there to give your 2 cents on Entmoot, but really all you have to do is say you're "in".
ksen and ecurbh are keeping the lists straight. :)

ksen is handling the logistics for us. You can send a check for the deposit (about $50) to him. Just freepmail him to get the address.
Glad to hear you can make it. I've added you to the list of attendees.

This may be somewhat blasphemous, but what I didn't "get" was the uh...er....um...the appeal...Well, actually, I can understand that. I started reading the X-Men comic book with issue #99, back in 1976 or so. I kept reading the title (and other titles that came later) until the early 1990s. So, I have a long association with these characters; seeing them portrayed well, up on the big screen, becomes very special.
The similarity between the LOTR movies and the X-Men movies is just that: the directors of each understood the source material, and did a great job of translating it into the movie format. But, for the same reason, someone who wasn't familiar with the source material might have difficulty seeing the appeal of the movies. ;)

That guy is a dwarf! "He" most certainly is NOT a dwarf!

But, for the same reason, someone who wasn't familiar with the source material might have difficulty seeing the appeal of the movies. I'm gonna watch it once more before I send it back.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I finally got to see it a couple of nights ago and I loved it!
With 2 kids, it's almost impossible to get a chance to go to the movie theatre. The slackest part is that now I'll have to wait until he DVD is released in order to see X-Men 2!!
And even longer to see the extended version! ARRGH!

"He" most certainly is NOT a dwarf! looks like a dwarf to me
CERTAINLY not an elf
if he's not a dwarf or an elf, maybe he's one of those Gondorian characters
To: Wneighbor; ksen; RMDupree

I don't really wanna know if he's not wearin' skivvies... that's why he has on the tutu. so, that he can at least keep A LITTLE modestly. or maybe he just likes tutus.

I finally got to see it a couple of nights ago and I loved it!Just out of curiosity, were you at all familiar with the X-Men before seeing the movie?
I'll have to wait until he DVD is released in order to see X-Men 2!!
Ugh, I could not stand waiting that long! Rose and I had to see it the opening weekend... we may go back in a week or two, if our budget allows. It was great!
To: Corin Stormhands
He's an enigma.
I know... I know... not supposed to be here, but I am almost ready to go... my hair is dryin'....
