The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

And we can butcher our livestock when we like

Oh the neighbors would love that!

Well, the old wives tales say that if you put out bags of human hair it keeps the deer out. Scent. I've heard some say it works, others not. You might try it. You can get a beauty salon to donate hair.

Wonder if cat fur would work. The neighbor at The House uses that coyote urine. I just plant extra black eyed peas and they leave my green beans alone....pretty much.

When we lived in northern VA, we always had a garden... the year we moved here, we tried planting and it all got eaten by deer. Now we don't bother with more than tulips. The deer don't seem to like our tulips for some reason.

Yes! - I want pictures of twisters!

I have a picture. It's not Corin's tornado. It's the first one I saw on the day of the Jarrell tornado. I don't know enough html so I'm just going to type it.

www.vvm.com/~curtis/Stormchase.html

This is a guy's webpage that is a meteorologist in central Texas and is also storm spotter. The storm in his second photo on the page was the one I spotted and followed to Jarrell. I worked in an office right down the farm road from Spring Valley, the community he mentioned. They announced on our PA that a tornado was spotted and everyone should take cover. My desk was on the second floor and I could see the tornado. I had just gotten on the stormwatchers team from my county - and I had a jeep. I grabbed my radio, jumped in the jeep and went. The 3rd and 4th photos are also part of this. That guy says the tornado dissipated and another one formed in south Bell county, but I was following and I didn't see it go away. I was watching it stay together the whole way. But, of course, he is a meteorologist and I had only just been trained so I didn't know what I was doing.

Ok you all, since I am in high anticipation of the Matrix sequel coming next week, I've worked up this little quiz for anyone else who might be too.

Matrix Quiz #2069

1. What is the guy's name who comes to knock on Neo's apartment door?

2. What is Neo's apartment # ?

3. What is the title on the book where Neo hides his money and stuff?

4. What is the name on the building where Neo works?

5. What is his boss's last name?

6. Where does Neo agree to meet with Morpheus?

7. If the war was over tomorrow, where would the party be?

8. What is Cypher's last name?

9. What is the name of Morpheus's ship?

10. How old is it, approximately?

11. In what hotel does Agent Smith catch up with Neo and shoot him?

12. What is the room # ?

And, for 1,000 bonus points, explain Jean Baudrillard's Simulcra Theory as it relates to this movie.

Sitting here trying to decide if I'm gonna hurl.

A friend of my wife sent dinner (actually just chicken and a relish for us). So my wife added veggies and rice. She's gone to the store to shop for wedding attire for tomorrow.

I wasn't too particularly fond of the chicken. But I was eating while I was watching tv. Then I looked down and realized it wasn't completely cooked...**shudder**.

I don't even like beef less than well done...aaack! I feel queasy.

THEN, I was gonna take Luke and go work out, but I just looked at the time on the computer. It's 30 minutes ahead of what my watch said. Apparently Luke changed the time. He's done that before.

Sigh...not the evening I had anticipated.

Ew... I eat beef so raw it's mooing, but chicken needs to be cooked dead.

Do something else to take your mind off the chicken!

I thought you dwarves always had RED meat off the bone! Yardbird is not red meat. And well done isn't red either.

Corin, are you sure you're a dwarf?
