Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Just heard that a woman's daughter's trailer was hit in Powhatan county. Woman wasn't there and her boyfriend called to report the damage. So it doesn't look like anyone was hurt. Don't know how much damage there was.

note to self: damnation is a vowel that goes before inanimate objects. ___ pickup that's broke down, ___ lawnmower that's hard to start, ___ bedpost I'm always running into in the dark, etc.

Are the reports saying there are still tornados on the ground or have they dissipated?
To: Wneighbor
I have to tell you what happened.
My arabic teacher will be gone for the summer. So, I need something to fill in.
I was looking on the web and I found this company in Georgia that sells software.
I call, and get the owner. He is the arabic teacher at the University of Georgia. He was so nice.
He wanted me to make a sentence for him. Of course, all the words I do know when smacked dab out of my head. I ended up saying "the boy is beautiful."
He didn't think I was progressing as fast as I should. He says his students can talk in paragraphs, etc. (We have yet to enter the verb area yet)
So, he kept asking me questions. When he found out I could write and read... he seemed to think better of me.
He recommended two books. He said the title of the book and I said, "I know what you just said."
He replied, "you do?" Yes... and I told him... Then, he began to think I wasn't an arabic washout.
He asked me if I knew grammar rules. Yes, I do... I told him what I knew. This was exciting to him. He realized that I was getting a wonderful foundation. He said that I would be able to build on that.
Then, he told me that I needed to relax and just speak it. He could tell I was intimidated with it because I would speak it wrong... He said, don't worry about that... just speak it.
I ordered the two books with CD's. The only problem its Egyptian arabic and not Lebanese arabic... but, he didn't think that would present too much of a problem.
Then, he said that Lebanese arabic was the best to learn.
Told me to call him anytime.
Really, really neat.

WOW!!! That's incredible. That one sounds like a God opportunity! VERY GOOD!
To: Corin Stormhands
That's good. I have got your radar up but since I'm not familiar with ya'll it's really not telling me much except big red splots. I'm not really seeing a heavy storm hook now but I don't know how current this is.
To: carton253; Wneighbor
Of course in my me-ism I'm thinking I hope the storm clears up soon, 'cause I want to go to the gym and swim. I can always do the treadmill, but it's a swim day...
It's all about me.
To: Wneighbor
What site are you using for radar?
To: Corin Stormhands
where are you?
To: Corin Stormhands
where are you?
To: Wneighbor
I'm just south of Richmond (like 3 miles from the city line)
To: Corin Stormhands
Okay, I was on weather channel. But, I like accuweather better. But, I'm having trouble getting it to come up. That's why I'm not sure I have current tracking.
To: Wneighbor
Just dawned on me. I gotta get out of here. The dean is due in and she already doesn't like my casual dress code. And this is vacation. I'm really casual today... but better than yesterday for WalMart.
To: Corin Stormhands
Mrs. just told me that, after lunch on Sunday, she would prefer that I take the boys to Kings Dominion...Sounds like a great gift for her for Mother's Day!

Run!
(see you later)

Hey! X-Men arrived today. I'm really likin' NetFlix We've really enjoyed Netflix. Watched Count of Monte Cristo last night, and had watched Ocean's Eleven the night before. Yeah, I know George Clooney's a twit, but it was a fun movie!
To: SuziQ
Sounds like a great gift for her for Mother's Day! Funny. That's what she said too!
To: SuziQ
Yeah, I know. But we loved
Ocean's Eleven. My favorite scene:
Clooney: I got the divorce papers.
Julia Roberts: 'Told ya I'd write...
