Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Wish you were here today. It's my first whole day at home of my vacation time. I'm fixin' to get dressed and go to Sam's, WalMart and the Christian store. Getting some more stuff to send to daughter and s-i-l.
and food samples. food samples at Sam's for lunch.

Yes, I agree that both are valid answers, race and religion.
There used to be a poster on FR named "LostTribes" who thought that the Celts were the Lost Tribes of Israel. His entire profile page was devoted to the theory, it was fascinating, if flaky.
Unfortunately, he got banned, not sure for what, but I believe for being really uncivil in arguing.
I have alot of Celtic ancestry, it would be ironic if LostTribes theory was right, since I ended up with a Jew, albeit one whose family is from Russia.

An electric weed-wacker will work great and be as powerful as most gas ones. Really.
The only reason I had to switch to gas was that I don't have enough cord to do my whole pasture!
Don't buy the smallest one they have, it will last longer if it has more power and doesn't have to work as hard.... Buy the middle-of the road size electric one, preferably one that automatically feeds the line out. (Around $100 or less) The ones that you have to tap on the ground to feed more line waste a lot more line than the automatic ones.

If you can reach everywhere in your yard with say a 50 foot extension cord then why not? Yeah, should easily be able to reach everywhere with that. I'm inclined to go that way. I think the cheapest of the gas ones are less expensive than the electrics, though...but if I can get away with not dealing with yucky gas stuff, it'd be worth a few more dollars.

That's going right back to Kansas City where Osage is. G'nad's supposed to be a bit further east I think.
Speaking of KC - OT did you get anything settled job wise yesterday?

I've had so much fun and I feel so blessed to have been able to represent the Hobbit Hole to the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan. I feel like this is one of the things I'll look back on (and the jedis too) with fondness for the rest of my days.

I've heard the theory of the Celts being the Lost Tribes and I've also heard of the Native Americans being the Lost Tribes. Both seem historically unlikely in the extreme to me but yet both ideas are intriguing. However, I've never run across any actually "proof" of either theory. Or whatever they're using to pass for proof. Would be interesting to see something brief on it though.

Think they'll have enough time to read all the books before coming home? Have they received them yet?

Do you know if the cordless ones are at all OK? Like
this? Seems like they'd run out of steam pretty quickly, but if they DID work, it'd be the best of both worlds! Electric with no cord!

I just went to get out of my pjs and when I bent over to put my shorts on, I fell flat over! Landed on the foot of the bed, thankfully!
