The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

How far are you from Greensboro? It would be a very politically correct thing to do, but you could take him to the site of the Woolworth's counter (civil rights sit-in).

You make me laugh, Master Dwarf. Why did you stop taking Japanese?

Well, that was subtle! But yes, you identified the pain area!
To: carton253
Why did you stop taking Japanese? I was never really "taking" it. I had a self-study guide just to start. But that was around the time I had my round with cancer. I dropped a lot of stuff.

Friends ksen?ksen just needs to think it thru...:-)
Of course we're still friends. I responded to both of you over there.

What a bunch of maroons!See, that's the part I take the most offense at. We are maroons because we get a little upset that our issues are always put on the back burner. We get accused of being one issue voters, when the fact of the matter is, EVERYONE is a single-issue voter at some level.
In almost the same breath we get accused of being irrelevant and of being able to cost the Repubbys the election. Which is it? If we're irrelevant then we won't cost anyone the election and if we're able to cost someone the election then we aren't irrelevant.
Like I said over on the other thread I will probably vote for President Bush again because I like the guy. But it is attitudes like the above that will most likely push me away from the Republican party. < /rant >

I keep meaning to tell you!
The other night they mentioned that naval base near you...Bremmerton? On our local news. Went with a mom that went to greet her daughter. They filmed the entire thing.
You had a little bit of Tulsa nearby for a while!

It was downtown. It's no longer there. There's some sort of civil rights center there or something. But there's a marker.

HereThere is another one with more comments on the news side. It is linked in the one I gave above. It's pretty much the standard "Christians upset at getting short shrift from administration and threaten to withhold support in next election so other Republicans feel they should pour their wrath upon the Christian Right" thread.

I responded to you on the other thread.
The maroon comment was not directed at you, but rather at those who would "just stay home."
I came up through the ranks of the Religious Right. For the most part, their values are still my values. But I also grew up in a state where the RATS had an 80% majority in our General Assembly and Congressional Delegations.
I do not advocate "winning at all costs." But I like to win.

You know, since we don't have panties to get into a wad we get much more upset than we probably should. ;^)

Good morning everyone!
I've grilled some ribeyes and fried some eggs, so here we go! I made a lovely sauteed mushroom gravy to go with it if you like. 8 platters of bacon and sausages are on the table and next to them is the hot plate with hash browns and home fries. Grits are on the stove! Coffee is strong today, so watch out! Fresh squeezed orange juice is available in the icebox. ENJOY!
ecurbh - The T-shirts are an awesome idea! I found this image on a google search and saved it just in case we needed it. What do you think?

Sam Cree - Bad peanut butter? Oh no! I'm glad to hear you and Jeanne are better today.
carton - There are 3 bedrooms and left and 2 living rooms in the castle, so there appears to be no lack of sleeping places.
Corin - Be careful at the troll meeting, my friend.
Hair - that pit bull thread continas some of the silliest and rude people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting! I've been in there this morning already, but I have a feeling I may just tell everyone to blow it out their shorts soon!
