Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Speaking of previews, is it just me or were there an annoying amount of them before TTT?I think it really depends on where you are. The first time we saw it, there were just two previews. However, both were for DiCaprio movies, which I guess made up for that. (Ugh!) The second time was at our local theater, and I think there were three. Still not that big of a deal, though. There are benefits to living in the middle of nowhere, I guess!

If the tickets were cheap, I wouldn't mind ads... but when the tickets are 7.50-9.00, I should not have to see ads to pay my way.

About 75-80 miles, it takes 45 minutes or so to drive from my house to the airport in Orlando.

You've got freepmail, sis.

I tell you, it's going to be a great Moot if we actually all get together! We can have a session!I'll probably learn different stuff.
To: RosieCotton
Can I just say I'm studying conservative Tolkien fanatics? My college is very understanding about this. They would know that if I said that I was focusing on "self-issues." LOL
I did notice this morning that my students have developed the fine art of getting me off topic right after our first break. Today is our first day back. There was a long series of questions about TTT issues. All in all we spent about an hour on TTT out of a 3 hour and 45 minutes class.

I bet there's enough overlap that we all have something we can play together!

During the previews, people (including myself) were groaning everytime another "green screen" came on showing the rating for the next preview and the next and the next...
I have seen the previews for "Bruce Almighty", "When Harry Met Lloyd: Dumb and Dumberer", "XMen 2", and several other dumb flicks at least 3 times. They still look like they stink!

We had previews for "Dumb and Dumberer", "Bad Boys II", "Final Destination 2", "Terminator 3", and "X-Men 2"........you know I just noticed that there are a LOT of sequels coming out this summer.
Don't they make original stories anymore?

They should run them in the middle of the film, so we can get up and intermiss! That's a good plan. At least a couple of them would be a good potty break.

Bruce Almighty made my eyes sting to watch, it was so bad.

...a 3 hour and 45 minutes class.Holy cow! Is this class only once a week?

At least "Dumb and Dumberer" was short.
To: ksen; RMDupree
Ours also had previews first for TTT, (why did they preview the movie we were there to see?) also, Pirates of the Caribbean (with Orlando Bloom), that one coming next summer with Billy Boyd, and also for ROTK "coming next December."
To: ksen
I saw the same ones, except Bad Boys II. And yes, it is glaringly obvious that there are zero new ideas in Hollyweird these days.
I did notice that everyone in the theatre groaned aloud when they revealed that T3 was a *gasp* woman! It's a pity, since I love Terminator movies. I will definitely give this one a pass though. She just didn't scare me and I don't think she can, no matter how they dress it up.
The new "she-bot" looks too feminine and it's easy to picture Linda Hamilton knocking her lights out with one punch.

Twice a week. It combines an hour of lecture with 2 hours 45 minutes of lab time. So, it isn't so bad. The good students are usually out of class in 2 hours.

Sorry for the double ping. I got lost! Please disregard the other ping to The New (old) Hobbit Hole. And forgive me for not being good with maps, I guess. As I look at the poll in the Yahoo Hobbit Hole, it looks like the Weekend of Jan 9, 2004 is the winning date for our Freeper EntMoot 2004 with 10 committed to come (As committed as we can be at this point!). The location is Palm Bay/Melbourne/Orlando area or surrounds. Details to be worked out in the next few months.
Registered as willing to come at this point are:

HairOfTheDog
htur_75
JenB
Ksen

There are lots of regulars notably missing on that list! - Are some of y'all just being lazy? - shy? Unwilling to go on adventures?
It is really early to try and get a head-count, we know, new friends may arrive in the year to come who don't even know they want to go yet! -but it would be good to know if we are talking about a group of 10 or 30.
If you really don't think you can come, there is a place to register that. That way we can beg, plead, and then eventually stop bothering you!
If some of you are not sure what the Yahoo Hobbit Hole is, then you are not a member, but could be if you want to be. It is another place with a chat room that we go sometimes for chat-views, live events, chit-chat, and the like. I am pinging my wider list to this to see if there are any folk who would be interested in joining us in Florida for a view of RoTK, and other FReeper-social activities, Jan 2004.

Bruce Almighty made my eyes sting to watch, it was so bad. I have to admit I laughed at the dog reading the newspaper sitting on the john (it's a dwarf thing), but I let Jr. know that there was no way I'd approve of him seeing that movie. The terms "blasphemy" and "heresy" come to mind...
To: 2Jedismom
My dad, too. He can't stand Jim Carrey.
To: Corin Stormhands
Did you like the "Oh God" movie with George Burns? or was that too much too?
