Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I am not sure I would lick my bunnies even if they would let meWouldn't be the same as frog lickin, that's for sure! You could get a hair ball from lickin bunnies!
Proofreading is our friend, is it not?

It's not like any of us - even the ones with degrees - make a mint.SSQ's first job, fresh out of a PhD program in Statistics was as an Asst. Professor at Purdue Univ. One of the reasons he decided to leave and go for an industry job was that the pay was so low. There was no way we could handle it and have me be able to stay home and raise the kids. It was also 1980-81 and mortagage interest rates were close to 20%! There was now way we would have been able to afford a house, either, so he just bagged it and we went to New Jersey where some other friends were living, and had been badgering him to come out there to work.
He loves teaching, though, and when the kids are all grown and gone, he may go back to it.

Proofreading is our friend, is it not? And better friends probably would not point out typos!
But about the bunnies, they stay in the paddock and in the woods. I wouldn't really want them to become too tame, because if they felt safe to come in the yard, Gidget would get them. If I see her going after them I call her off, but got some when I first moved in.
No "Wild Kingdom" re-enactments allowed 'cept for mouses, Gidget, and even then, please make it quick!

He loves teaching, though, and when the kids are all grown and gone, he may go back to it. Funny thing is - I really didn't think I would like teaching. I like designing. I like the manufacturing process. I love being in busy industries. So, I didn't think I'd like teaching. I only came here because, at heart, I am a stay home mom and just didn't have that opportunity after Myranda was 3. So, this job provided me with the chance to have mostly her hours for 2 school years. There is no price I can put on that. So, it was worth it totally. But now, I think I am going to have to go back.

Hmmm... the thread is getting kind of quiet. Whipped these up whilst puppysitting:

In honor of the Democratic nominee hopefuls recent debate. Our friend Al promised to "slap the donkey" because it is "the only way to move the donkey" and he'll slap until the donkey kicks W. out of the White House.
And the new Democrat Party logo:

Consider getting just the small ones, they will pack easier in the box.
I was just sitting in the living room staring at the (mostly empty for now) boxes and thought...the large ones won't fit in those boxes. I used a different box, a 2nd hander, for the last ones you sent.

It's the only thing he has ever asked for personally. He says he borrows it from other guys, so it must be pretty popular. If we send at least 5 containers of it, he'll be able to pay the guys back he borrowed from!

I made a big batch of cheeseburger macaroni. Sounds plain, but I put two whole boxes of mac and cheese, two pounds of hamburger, an entire onion, two entire tomatos, and an entire red pepper in it!
HUGE pot o chow! - I will be eating this for a week. Better freeze some.

Who needs recipes? - Just throw in what you've got handy!
HairOfTheDog's Surprise! It is as domestic as I get I guess... I usually limit myself to two ingredients when coooking for just me.
I am getting stuffed. Just a bite will satisfy a grown man.... [urp!]
