The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hehehe....I told some manager types that if they needed to unload one of those roto-vaps before moving to KC that I'd take one. :)

Wow, ya'll did a whole lot of brainstorming today.

I believe the acceptable term for that is now "thought-showering."

According to the yahoo's in California we don't want to offend someone who may have epilepsy by using the term "brainstorm" or any of its derivatives.

What motels are near this house, ksen?

I don't know, I'll try to get over there sometime this weekend and see.

Please...you misspelled Hitlery!

I used that term accidentally when talking to some of my younger siblings the other day. They were delighted. Poor kids...I corrupt them so!

...but you figure too high on the cost. The rent is $2,300, with the security deposit of $2,000. But if we leave the place ok, we should get that $2,000 back, so the final cost will be the $2335 + FL's lovely tourist taxes divided by the final # of people who want to go in on the house.

I realize that about the security deposit, but it still has to be paid out even though it does get given back at the end.

Moving is expensive and time consuming. I could bring my pickup and help.

Are we just counting HHDs as paying members? - I think we should. Not per person, unless they are seperate adults that would have gotten a seperate room.... My brother and I will each pay, for example, but we wouldn't charge for spouses and kids?

I thought we would split it up among the adults, say 21 and over. So that means if a HHD brought their spouse it would count as two.

I also think we would only have to come up with the deposit this early. The rental amount would be due sometime later, but I can call and verify that if you want.

Funny, I did, when I went to type that and spell it her way I would not remember the right spelling. I backspaced a couple of times to try and get it. I still wasn't sure I'd spelled it her way when I posted, but I cared um... this much --->

Re: Entmoot

The Jan 9 date works out fine for me. I've been kind of out of the loop, but Clan Robinson still plans on attending. Have there been any details that I've missed?

Also, Autumn is 3...are the young 'uns welcome, or should I find a sitter?

Good morning, Wneighbor. Guess what? My mint-in-a-pot has some baby leaves! I think the outside mint is taking a little longer, but the bottoms of the stems are still green, so it shouldn't be long now!

I was so excited to find those little leaves! I practically danced when I found 'em...my dog thought I was losing it, I think...

Your infected. You have a life-long disease now. It's called gardening.

:-)

I have been finding baby leaves on all my plantings of lemon balm this week. Even the one that the unknown critters attacked the worst. I made 5 plantings out of what OT sent me. Two of those have doubled in size now!!! Keep in mind, my growth season is a bit ahead of yours too though.

If you start reading from around #29,700 you'll see what's developed so far. The big detail is that if we take the option we want, this castle thingy, then we need to move fast in order to get which probably means coming up with the $2,000 deposit plus the $35 application fee.

Also, Autumn is 3...are the young 'uns welcome, or should I find a sitter?

Bring 'em if you got 'em! ;^)

Hmmm...

I'll have to pass on the Castle Thingy idea.

The Mrs. and I had already decided it'd be better for us to just get a hotel room.

I snore.

Loudly.

Very, very loudly.

This may sound like a silly question...but where, in Florida, will this be happening? Geographically speaking...

I'm going to be finalizing our travel plans towards the end of the summer, so I want to do some research now.

Look, you can't snore any louder than Moose. Moose is in the ministry I'm in. When on the road we pile up in homes of anyone who offers. So, we end up sometimes with 20 people on somebody's living room floor in sleeping bags. And Moose is there. This is not a reason to not do the castle thing if you want to hang with the crowd.

OKAY everybody?

In the Melbourne/Palm Bay area. We are almost smack dab in the center of the Atlantic coast side of Florida. If you know where the Cape is then look just a little south, there we are.
