The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I made Matthew's favorite dish...Frito Pie Surprise. It's just a plain frito pie, except that I put a slice of american cheese on top of the chips, then pour the chili on top of that so that the layer of cheese is all melty.

He thinks I'm the best cook ever.

The older I get, the more I find sometimes the simplest meals are the ones that win you the most praise, especially from guys. ;-) (Meaning my brothers, unfortunately!)

They love casseroles...you know, the sort where you dump in some meat and a can of this and a can of that, put cheese on the top and heat it through. I can make something really fancy and they MIGHT say it's OK...but they'll gush over something that I through together in a few seconds!

That said...what's a frito pie?

4. What did Gandalf scratch on Bilbo’s door? – A mark that identified Bilbo as a burglar

I thought he scratched the "G" rune, so the dwarves would know Bilbo's place was the place to be.

I could be wrong...it happened once before.

Fritos with chili poured over it. Preferably "Wolf Brand" chili.

At the ball park, they will take a small bag of fritos, slit it along the side and pour the chili right into the bag, hand you a plastic spoon and there you go!

Hm...sounds like a nice quick meal, if possibly a bit messy. I'll have to try that one of these days.

They aren't really rock...not what I think of as rock, anyway. There's a beat to some of their music, but it's not rocked traditional stuff like that other band.

I think you may be right.

I'll try to remember to look tonight. I just gave the answer that was in the back of the book. He didn't give references for his answers which is too bad.

Sometimes I say "Hello?" and if no one says anything I just stand there and wait. Then they usually just hang up

We have our answering machine that screens out most of them, unless it is a computer generated message calling us. If I pick it up before the machine, they get one "Hello", if THEY don't answer, I hang up on em!

LOL! We LOVE the Peeps! Clare found this earlier this year! I like Sam's vest; I hadn't even noticed his vest in the movie before I saw the Peeps! We like the 'hiding place' for the Ring when Gandalf comes back. It's sitting in the open in the little basket on the floor!!
