Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oops. I bet I'm too late. I was fixing supper when you posted this. One of Myranda's friends stopped by and I was making homemade pizza and we ended up with company until just now.
My son-in-law is with the 1st Armored Division and they are replacing the 3rd infantry in Baghdad. (Which is kind of cool since my good friend's son that I've been so proud of is in the 3rd.) They have not reached Baghdad yet... or they hadn't when he called me last Friday. I believe he said he would be there Wednesday. He will be assigned to so something or other at the airport.
My daughter will be staying in Germany. I'm a little concerned about her now because she resigned her position as head of the Family Resource Group for the division. She got a lot of satisfaction out of the job and I think it would have been good for her to have that to keep her busy over the next months. But, the job is supposed to belong to the colonel's wife. She didn't want the job 2 years ago so Jill stepped up and took it. Now, the colonel's wife wants the job back. I hope she does a good job. I don't want to listen to Jill if she doesn't. LOL

okay, corin does this. ***ahem***
And I remember, Hair did it once too.
I'm still pretty new at this. I hope I did it right.

Gee, I spent a couple of hours gardening, I made homemade pizza, ran off Myranda's friend, showered and THEN came back to the Hobbit Hole and I'm still a threadkiller.
Night all.

Except for one portion of her anatomy that got shown more than once... that was very striking! Beautiful, even! So, I guess they didn't look at the women's FACES during auditions, huh?

Sorry!!! I told you Steve would be home soon! He got in and now he's gone to bed and I can resume my computer time!
From what I understand (and I don't know much) but military wives do better when they are around other military wives. They form a support system for each other.

Good morning! Another lovely day here! Temperature is already close to 60 and rising. It was only supposed to get into the fifties today, as I recall...but they've upped all the projected temps for the week. Woo-hoo!
I have chocolate, I have sunshine, I have coffee...who could ask for anything more?
To: Wneighbor
Okay, I looked in my herb books. Lots of information and basically what I was thinking. The things that are native to the Mediterranean area such as oregano, rosemary, thyme... Thanks! I got some things planted last night, but never made it back here to post. As it turned out, all the soil was fairly sandy, though that one corner was the worst. I planted oregano and fennel down at that end...hopefully that works out. I'm still a bit worried that things won't sprout right since it's still getting rather cold at night and I mostly just spread seeds and put the earth over them instead of doing it in rows or anything nice...I'm too impatient for that!
Oregano was the hardest. I don't think I've ever seen such tiny seeds before!
I'll let you know in a few weeks if it looks like anything is coming up!

Well, good morning! I don't have any happy pills, but I got another email from the chaplain, not as long as the last one but still very nice. I'll post it here in a sec.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

Care package update
I got an email response to my question about whether or not the books would be appreciated and also an update on the care packages we're sending. I also asked him if all the items I sent arrived in good condition and it sounds like they did. I like it that he says "y'all" because he knows I'm going to pass this on to all of you! ha!
Good Morning! To answer your question: The set that I put out here at the "office" has two of the books "checked out" or someone is reading them. I'm not quite sure about the other three sets. I think they'll definitely be used especially as our deployment "winds down" and our soldiers have more free time.
Just to give you (y'all) a Situational Report (SITREP): All of the "goodies" that came in the care packages are virtually gone (accept for the sunflower seeds and drink mixes which take longer to use). I received one additional package yesterday that contained a huge bag of candy and a second container of gum. The first container of gum was all gone accept about 10 pieces. The moonpies, honeybuns, and pecan pies, had no chance. They were gone in a couple of hours. The soldiers loved them! The Atomic Fireballs arrived just in time. The last of the other container of Fireballs was down to a handful.[There are two more containers onthe way]
All of that to say once again thank you! Thank you most of all for your prayers. Please continue to pray that we don't have any more casualties of American service members.

I think happy pills work best at around 4:30 and later in the afternoon. Dang! But it's 4:30 somewhere isn't it? I'm just really hating my job these days. But I'm kinda stuck...sigh...at least it's work. I should be happy about that.
grumble...grumble...grumble...
