Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

And hopefully ya'll can all see that I'm really just a let-it-all hang out kind of minister. It's the Rev. Wneighbor!! Seriesly, thanks for sharing all that with us. I'll bet you are great at ministering to those who need it! You also sound like you are not loathe to say, "GET A GRIP", when they need it!

I am sure they have a very serene lifestyle as long as *The Man* leaves-them-the-heck-alone!
They are just dudes that like camos and camping and don't want to pay taxes.

Well I'll go along with the not paying taxes part, but I'm not really thrilled with camping. I can wear camo, though....it's my color. :)

A tennis ball shaped like a stick. How cool is that? That is WAY cool! One problem with dogs and tennis balls is that because of the shape of the ball, the dog ends up tearing it along the 'seams' The stick shape gives the dog several surfaces to bite, so it seems it would last longer.
Looks like Bay likes his new hay rack!

It's your THIRD thread like this? I knew it was big the last time I visited here, but I didn't realize it was THIS big!!
I guess, "Why move if your like where you live?" and "If it ain't broke don't fix it" comes to mind.
Yes, the carepackages you all did are awesome. THANK YOU from both of us from the bottom of our hearts.
Did you guys see the CD the VetsCor from here at FR did?
Here is the link to the thread. It is ONLY a sample.. but it sure was done professionally and leaves you wanting to see the rest. It would be awesome for those at VetsCor to end up with over 28 thousand posts!!! PING your lists to this thread!!
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-vetscor/899183/posts Enjoy..and be sure to PING me to this thread whenever something is going on, K? :o)

Are they selling those CD's? I think 2JM already expressed an interest and it would be great to send a copy to our guys.

I'm sure the dwarves would prefer a serene lifestyle mining mithril over battling Balrogs and such. I don't know. We might have to check with the local dwarves to be sure......
To: SuziQ
You also sound like you are not loathe to say, "GET A GRIP", when they need it! I do have a rep for that. One reason I liked my old pastor too. He encouraged that when it was time.
To: HairOfTheDog
They are just dudes that like camos and camping and don't want to pay taxes. Dadgum, I fit all those except the dude part. I do prefer denim and tee shirts to camo but camo is good too.

Well I'll go along with the not paying taxes part, but I'm not really thrilled with camping. I can wear camo, though....it's my color. :) Well, I LOVE the camping part. And we can all agree on the taxes. Seems the camo is interesting though. Oddly enough, camo colors are good in my color scheme too.
To: Wneighbor
camo colors are good in my color scheme too. Hmmmm....wonder how many militia dudes are out there wearing colors that just don't suit them.
To: Wneighbor
Well, we're big enough (about 2,000) that we don't always bow to what the National Assemblies will or will not recognize. Our Music and Fine Arts Pastor is divorced. He and his wife served our church for years and just split over unreconcilable differences. But his ordination is through the Church of God, not the AoG. The AoG would not "allow" him to serve.
We're also less holy roller than some of the smaller AoG churches. You know, snakes only twice a month, on Wednesday. And we keep the rapture practice trampolines out back instead of in the foyer.
We have seven (or is it 8?) pastors. A couple of years ago we added a woman pastor. She had been on the staff for years basically serving in that capacity anyway. And our senior pastor encouraged her to see the licensing which she did.
What amazes me is the way they all work together. It's a pretty incredible thing to watch how their gifts and personalities blend.
Some days I long for more liturgy, more high church. But I usually get okay going and reading or singing some of the great hymns.
To: Wneighbor
Dadgum, I fit all those except the dude part.Well, DUH! - That is the whole point! - I think these guys are prob'ly lookin' for a few good wimmin!

12 years as a lobbyist, public relations, corporate communications and community relations officer... We have similar work experience. I did event planning for a national policial association in DeeCee for 8 years, then went to work in Richmond. Throw in some campaign experience, etc. I have trouble marketing me too.
Still, with your credentials and with the Republicans doing so well these days, there's gotta be something out there. Check www.townhall.com and the job listings there. Also check the Heritage Foundation website. They have a pretty decent job bank.
Good luck.

Hmmmm....wonder how many militia dudes are out there wearing colors that just don't suit them. Do you think they have a local Beauty Control lady who can come straighten that out for them? You know, I kind of laugh at my colors, of course some that they say look good I don't like but many are definitely camo. Somehow, I have to say thank you God. My mom dressed me in pinky pastels for too many years.

I'm sure the dwarves would prefer a serene lifestyle mining mithril over battling Balrogs and such. This particular dwarf wants to live at the beach and write novels.
To: Wneighbor
I dunno...seems to me that militia dudes wouldn't take to someone with "Control" in their title. :)
I think there is someting to that "my colors" thing. Some colors make people look absolutely terrible!
To: Corin Stormhands
It was a dark and stormy night.....

I was thinking more like: It was the best of mines. It was the worst of mines...
