The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

My brothers got to meet Brian Jacques, who writes the "Redwall" series, today. Apparently he's a very nice man.How COOL!! We love the Redwall books. I used to read them aloud to the kids, and do all the different accents of the characters!! They are fun reading, especially for boys because the 'bad' animals are so bloodthirsty!

Thanks for the kilt again. I just got home from a hellacious day at work and am about 100 posts behind. Guess everyone else is about back to their real lives so I'll just browse a while.

So sad, but that is not a bad way to go! I have hoped many times that she would just pass and I wouldn't have to do it. Yep. It was a good moment for a passing. It made it a lot easier for me that way. The onset of illness was so sudden that it didn't appear that she suffered for more than a week. One morning she just had a tough time getting up the steps and I could see in her eyes she was hurting. Took her to the vet, tests results took about 3 days, got the results and she went the next day.
It was very hard on us of course. Myranda was only 7 or 8 and Bear had been part of the family her whole life. Bear thought SHE was Mryanda's mother. Every afternoon Bear laid with Myranda when she napped. One of my favorite photos is Myranda asleep in the floor with Bear's front paw laid over her like a mom would.

Precious when they put their arms around you!
I am going to not try too hard to have any planned or expected 'moments to remember' with Zulu. In truth, the Zulu I knew, her personality, the intelligence and attitude she had, has been gone for some time. She has something that must be very similar to Alzheimer's. She doesn't come to, or sit with me, she walks and paces, looking for something she can't find. It breaks my heart to reach out to her and have her stare back with eyes that aren't really hers and that don't really know me.
Heh. I used to be glad Zulu couldn't talk because of the stories she could tell.
I will not begin missing Zulu on Wednesday, I will be able to start remembering her.

Ok...now, who wants to talk about muscle cars, the shotgun formation, and/or pro-wrestling? Muscle cars-R-Us! A friend of mine has found a possible Camaro for me. It's a 68 with a 350, auto. Guy wants $3000 for it. Supposedly has not dings dents scratches and is original. I'm having said friend check on it personally as it is about 230 miles from me. Will let you know details.......when I know them.
if that's enough of a muscle car for you to think about that is.
To: Wneighbor
I just bought 400 of them in your name!

I will not begin missing Zulu on Wednesday, I will be able to start remembering her. Good outlook. She will always be a huge chapter of your heart.
After Bear, I said no one would be that close to me. Then, my daughter married this guy she's married to now. (my wonderful s-i-l) He already had a child from a previous marriage. (my first grandchild) She saw the dalmation movie and had to have one. They got her one. Then the army transferred them to south Florida where they had to live in a 3rd floor apartment in West Palm Beach. They couldn't take the dog. It was right after all those news flashes about how dangerous dalmations were. Rubbish. I had to take her or they were going to have to send her to the pound. At that time, she'd never have found a home. So, I spent 2 weeks spending every moment away from work bonding with her (she was way too hyper to live in my itty bitty house.) Uh, we bonded and it was like another Bear. Different friend. Same heart. Amazing. She's gone now too. But, not in my heart.

I just bought 400 of them in your name! be still my heart..........
er.... okay, it's raging hormones but at my age what do you expect???
To: 300winmag
But the dentist suggested nitrous oxide, My dentist figured out when I was about 14 that it was best to give me nitrous. I hate the sounds though. Sounds like you had no sounds. I will tense up and try to rise from the chair escaping sounds.

I keep thinking the Hobbit Hole care packages are coming to an end, but here I am with nearly $100 in the bank again! Most of it is spoken for, your donation for the fireballs and a donation for the shipping of the sunscreen...I'm just waiting on some more info, then it looks like I'll be sending out at least 3 and maybe even 4 more care packages this week or early next week! (I'm personally sending some more snacks...even though it was six boxes last week, I still felt it was skimpy!)

Well, the guy was facing everyone, so we didn't get to draw his butt. NO MORE DETAILS!!!!!!
To: HairOfTheDog
Hair: we're sorry to hear about Zulu's condition. Only you know what is the right thing to do, not the vet and not your stalwart companions on the quest.
Samantha sends you a big furry hug.
To: 2Jedismom
NOT SKIMPY by any means. So, if you think you're going to send some more do you want some more cards?
To: Wneighbor
Whether or not I send anything, if you want to send the cards, you send them and I'll make sure they get passed on!

Hey Hair. Myranda has this dog.........
name's Smeagol
name matches personality
I refuse to get totally attached to another one. And Myranda's going to be going off to seminary in about 3 months.
You want a Smeagol?
Otherwise I have to continue cooking her eggs 2 or 3 mornings a week.
To: 2Jedismom
Okay, I'll get some more rounded up. I got a couple of email buddies still that keep emailing me and saying they meant to and are gonna do it today. and today. and today etc.
To: Wneighbor
Wn; sounds almost too good to me, but it would be worth a look-see anyway.
Muscle cars, the Chevelle, the Charger, the Shelby... We'll not see the likes of them again. sigh.
