The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yeah, Gimli should get extra points everytime he splatters Uruk entrails all over himself. Can't get entrails on ya if ya use a bow.

Hi everyone. My online time has been severly curtailed because my mother went on her annual after-Christmas psycho freak Sunday and decided to ground all of us, literally and metaphorically. This is the first time that she has been out of the house since and also the first time I've been able to get online. It should be blown over by Friday but meanwhile, I am caged... the walls of my bower shrinking in about me, a hutch to trammel some wild thing...

Lemme tell ya, those extra goodies on the Extended Version are almost as good as the movie itself.

I've seen all of the appendices disc stuff and watched the movie with the Director's commentary once. It was fantastic!

I plan on watching the appendices discs again tomorrow, ot least parts of them. :)

*sigh* When will PJ let us know abuot the Extended Version of TTT? It's not easy being an addict.

Hang in there, JenB. The holidays are a tricksey time for some folks.

We'll be here for ya when things settle down, so take comfort in that. In other (Frodo's) words:

"I feel that as long as the Shire lies behind, safe and comfortable, I shall find wandering more bearable: I know that somewhere there is a firm foothold, even if my feet cannot stand there again."

But I would rather be here than anywhere else! I could live without the car, for a while, since I could get to work and school doesn't start for two weeks, but the internet is my connection to the world. I can do anything, if I have internet access. Without it, I can... reread books. Which is fine and all, but I miss the interaction terribly.

She just has holiday depression stuff, I guess, and for some reason it was really bad this year. Oh well. She's out now and when she comes home I get to go for shoes. Mine are falling apart and she can't deny that I need new ones ;)

I also love the appendices and stuff that came with the SE... especially disc four with all the people in it. I love all those people, they just seem so nice. Glad they were part of this film. I love 'em all!

You don't have my definition of decor...it's a pet if it involves feeding and work (the cleaning bit).

Well, they aren much of either at my house 'cause I can't seem to keep 'em alive. I'm going to try again once I get my home office moved.

(hullo! we are back and catching up!)

"...running short of dwarves..." *snicker* ;^)

Skivvieless Gondorians shouldn't be making "short" jokes...

I think the build-up to the holidays does so much to contribute to that. I've been thinking a lot about how to make November and December less frantic. Is it prepare all year (we did manage some sale bargains) or is it cut way back (not do the production, etc.)? I'm leaning towards t cutting back part myself...

Glad to be back. A few updates, then have to run for a while...

We got back from North Carolina last night around 8:00 p.m. We finally got the DVD set up (needed a modulator), then Jr. and I watched FOTR SE. Okay, so I still can't manage to stay awake all the way through (we need to start it before 10:00 p.m.). But I have new questions. I should probably know this, but does Boromir not get a gift from Galadriel?

In other news:

OT: Driving down I-85 saw lots of trees damaged from the ice storm - youch!!!

ksen: Soon!

RMDupree: Sorry you were under the weather. Hope you're all well...and I agree, a movie would help.

Bear: I can't remember, did you like Nemesis? Jr. and I saw it Sunday night. I was not moved.

We had an orientation for the little one's new daycare this a.m. I think it will be an okay fit.

Jr. is excited about his new digital video camera (and our bank account has almost recovered). He's also excited about the guitar his aunt and uncle got him and we're going to start lessons. We're sort of taking the "focus his interests" rather than "beat him into submission" approach and we'll see how that goes.

Sadly, he has ear surgery on Thursday and he's dreading that. They have to repair a hole in an ear drum, left over from when he had ear tubes (he's had them since he was five), and they'll remove the tube from the other ear. Hopefully this will take care of major problems.

Gotta run for now, we're having a house full of teenage boys here tonight. We'll do our best to say awake until midnight...

I'll be back later.
