Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hey Corin, have you heard of
This kid They mentioned Richmond in the story, so I just wondered. Someone on a homeschool board linked this story, so I think the kid must have been homeschooled. He's nothing like MY kids, I can tell you that! LOL!

The back yard is my mom's territory. And she is VERY protective of her plants!
I have my fish (bettas) and they soothe me tremendously when I can just sit and watch them swim for a few minutes. They actually all swim to the front of the tank when I sit in front of them - almost like they recognize the "food lady" has arrived! LOL!
The coolest thing is that one of them, Dean actually swims up to my finger if I put it in his tank and rubs himself against the tip. A fish that likes to be petted is a sure-fire smile maker.

And I just popped off a cap on my tooth while having milk and brownies. Now to call my dentist, who is making up his own deck of cards, and I'm the jack of hearts.oooooo yuk dentist.... i'm so sorry. I'd rather go to Ruthy's emergency room horrors than the dentist.
To: RMDupree
Well, Ruthy, we all know that only good folks are loved by animals er fish. Maybe someday we'll get to see your fishes.

Good morning! I just woke up a few minutes ago. Baaaad Hobbit was up too late watching the Ten Commandments. (And I still fell asleep before the end)
Glad you are feeling better Ruthy!
To all those who are having problems in the hobbit hole this morning, take a number! - I can't turn my neck to the right because of falling asleep watching the movie!!
I need more coffee. And some Aleve.

You haven't ever ticked me off yet either. Are you going to try today? Nope, not me. At least not until I make sure I haven't kilt the doublemint...(I might need more)...;-)
To: RMDupree
All gone! It's held now for over 2 days...so I think it's fixed. It was very damp under there and I suspect it's been going on for a while, a slow leak for years...actually...but it just got bad. Everything I ever put under there either rusted or warped...probably the whole time we've lived here (three years). But no mold could be seen, so that's good!

I have noticed that tubing before and wondered if it was AC.... in those shots you can see that it connects to another duct at the end and runs down and out.

The local news did a story on him last week. They interviewed him and he didn't seem like a spoiled brat at all. He was quite mature (sounding) and well spoken. And he has the respect of his classmates. Not sure how I feel about it. I think kids still need to be kids.
Of course, this 14-year-old has graduated college and I'm just hoping mine can get out of 8th grade...

I can't turn my neck to the right because of falling asleep watching the movie!! MY problems, are not self-inflicted...
Unless you count back to the marriage proposal...
To: RMDupree
I know! Take up the whistle! At least while you're learning people will stay away. :)
To: 2Jedismom
Good news on the leak! Nothing has rotted under there?
To: HairOfTheDog
Morning Hair!
I actually got a chance to go and hang out with my best friend yesterday for a few hours and neither of us had our kids around! We watched Signs without a single interruption! Amazing!
Sadly, we were halfway through the 2nd movie when her hubby got home with the kids, so we never got to finish Pretty in Pink. Yes, the one with Molly Ringwald.
We wanted a movie that was pure laughs, so I brought that one along. Just the clothes cracked us up!! Not to mention the corny sayings like "Well, I'm off like a dirty shirt!". I've called her already this morning just to say that to her and boy did she laugh!

No leaks! No mold! Hurray!
We are still fighting State Farm over the mold thing. All we want is enough to fix the kitchen properly, including the wall where the mold is growing. State Farm wants to basically pay for the lower cabinets and the resurfacing of the other cabinets. Grrr....

Not that I could tell. The wood is dark colored, but looks firm enough.

I tried that already! HAHAHAHAAA!
The problem is that I have to keep the whistle away from Becky since she is an accident waiting to happen. I just know if she gets within 2 feet of the whistle, it will undoubtedly be bent, broken or otherwise mangled!
My poor Becks! She wants to whistle too, but I think I'd better wait and get her a recorder first.

You know...my cabinets have those very thin doors on them. Cheap. But the cabinets themselves are very thick sturdy wood. I wonder if I could change the doors and make it look nicer?
