The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The feet are pretty realistic too, I think!

Cool that you can find out about that kind of stuff just randomly on this forum.

Agreed, it is always somewhat amazing the different kinds of information one can find on FR.

CS: cool, let us know it time to tap the malt beer and turn the ripe meat dripping from the bone.

Oh sorry, I'm not traveling your way. I was referring to the g'nad family. They should be hitting home sometime tomorrow. g'nad said he'd be back here around May 1 or so.

Sheesh! What a day. My b-i-l came to help me haul junk to the dump and to the church for the yard sale coming up. I was up until after 2:00 a.m. getting stuff ready and up again at 6:00 a.m. since he was coming a little after 7:00. He arrived at 9:00.

We took a load to the dump. Then he left to play a pre-arranged golf game with his b-i-l who was in from New Jersey. Said "we should be done around 4:00," which I took to mean (and he said it more than once) that he'd be back at 4:00.

Wife, boys, m-i-l and another s-i-l and b-i-l arrived around 6:00, but b-i-l with the truck is not yet back here. Finally showed up around 7:00. Apologized and explained that he meant he'd be thru with golf around 4:00. We got the stuff loaded and to the church.

Met up with the wimmin for dinner. All but my m-i-l are cranky (younger s-i-l is 6 months pregnant). Had a couple of pints with dinner.

So I get at dinner "you know, you'll owe me a lot of parenting points for this," since the little ones were down at the other end of the table (of course the wimmin arrived first and got the table and sat down). I just looked down at the table and said "this is NOT the time to be saying stuff like that."

She just called from a store, "Am I going to have to do the Easter Basket?" I felt like saying "do you want them done?" I haven't even been able to get in the shower and am still waiting for Jr. to get his so I can get mine and get in bed.

Sorry to ramble, but they're tickin' me off...g'nite all

I think I am going to swear off ice cream for a couple weeks. I have been sneaking some while Jeanne is away.

I don't know whether to support this decision or tell you to stop feeling guilty about a little ice cream.. I think the second!

Is there a list of FR members in alphabetical order anywhere on the site, do you know.

You are probably right about the ice cream, I'm pretty well behaved with it usually.

Well, I looked at a couple apartments today. One is definitely out of my price range. The other is OK, but has no AC. So now I have to decide if it is worth $1800 over the course of the year to have AC, which I would only use for a few months anyway. That money would greatly help my Digital Camera Fund. At least I have a couple more months to decide.

Started getting things set up with the new domain, so I can upload all the files once it gets turned on.

Sam, too bad I missed out on the art discussion tonight. I took two semesters of Art History in college, and found it one of the more enjoyable non-music classes.

Well I have a very long day tomorrow, playing for two church services in the morning, then back to my evening shift at work. High Plains Drifter just came on AMC, so I'll watch that until I get too sleepy.

Goodnight all, and Happy Easter!

I pretty much slept through art history in college, but am suddenly very interested in it in my old age.

I probably bored everyone to death with it tonight though, but am so fired up with it that I don't know if I can stop.

Good night, then.

No, you didn't, Sam. I love Art, but don't know that much about it. Never took Art History, but with the kids homeschooling now, we'll be studying it chronologically beginning with the Ancients soon.

I'm just now getting back online. We watched "Panic Room" tonight. It was good, and very suspenseful! But I'm going to bed now. We're singing both Masses in the morning and my throat already hurts!

Happy Easter All!
