The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

So yer sayin' that Gondorians don't wear skivvies cause they don't fit over the beer guts?
To: Corin Stormhands
It appears that Gondorians like to show off their skivvieless posteriors in an effort to distract the viewer from their pot bellies!

Well, that's all the imagery I need for one afternoon...
See y'all later. I'm outta here.

I didn't see it for a few days after everyone else saw it... I was waiting until I could go with my brother. So I was busting at the seams waiting for the screen to go to black and start. Everyone had raved so much! - But I do know that I was so overloaded the first time I watched it I was just saying "WOW". I didn't really absorb and enjoy it fully till the second time! I had high expectations on the first viewing, and wasn't disappointed. The opening scenes of the Shire were so sweet, I could tell that a lot of love went in to the work. And Gandalf was absolutely perfect! I had so many cherished images from the books, and PJ met or exceeded them. I even forgave him for his straying from the book (a bit harder to accept in TTT).
I sat in my seat for about five minutes after the closing credits ended, just trying to organize what I had just seen. I had feared that LOTR could never be filmed and do it justice, but PJ pulled it off. And the special effects were so seamless, they went unnoticed, and I was just swept along by the story.
Watching the extra material on the extended edition DVD, I realized how much love they put into it, as they worked to get even the LITTLE stuff right. Even minor scenes were carefully worked to use forced perspective properly, and showed lots of ingenuity. The "big" scenes set new standards for CGI. If anybody on the project, from the caterer to PJ, didn't really love Tolkien's works, they were careful to be hidden from sight in the DVD.
The first two of these movies have convinced me that ANY grand story can now be brought to the screen properly. The technology is there, but you still need a love and respect for the material, and a big budget. But PJ has shown us that we as moviegoers don't have to settle for less than the best.

Well Rosie, I didn't get the mint off this afternoon. Had drizzle when I got off work. I could have worked in it but I graded papers thinking it would quit and I'd get out there. Then, we had unexpected, uninvited company show up shortly before I had to return to work when I thought I'd just grab the mint, pack it and run it by the post office on the way back to work. That didn't happen. So, it ought to be off tomorrow. I am SUPPOSED to be off tomorrow afternoon.
To: Overtaxed
Okay. My phone goes back on tomorrow. My internet service just got reconnected (with no phone till tomorrow.) CHAT VIEW tomorrow as soon as you get home from work!!! I'll get Rosie's mint off early, have some cow slabs roasted on the grill if the weather is nice and we'll have as many cookies as anybody wants to be up for!

Well, since I'm planning to light the grill it would be rude of me not to fix you a steak too. How would you like yours cooked? I believe we will probably be having rib-eyes.

I'm trying to create my profile page. Is there a way to set the color of a hyperlink? Or is that just a personal preference set on the user's computer?
To: Overtaxed
Plumbers report....... does that have anything to do with those dwarfmoot photos?
Medium rare.... I'll put it on about the time you walk in the door from work. By the time you're shoeless and hit the facility you can eat.
