The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Tulips look like little green spears sticking up through the ground at first.

PS. The plan is that I am going to put some mint in the mail to you between morning class and evening class today. That's the plan. We'll see if it works.

Hm...maybe these aren't tulips, then. As I recall, they had little leaves. I've seen daffodils come up...are tulips more like that?

I planted some other flowers in one place, though...dahlias, I think? I think those might be coming up. They were right close to the house, so hopefully won't get quite so cold.

Might be daffodils as this is the time for them to show up.

We have daffdils already in bloom around my area in northern Anne Arundel county. They are really pretty.

No hurry! That would be great...hopefully I get plant it this weekend, but if it's still cold, I have a pot I can put it in for awhile. I hope it survives!

I don't have any daffodils here...yet anyway. I bought a bunch last fall, but the ground froze before I could get them in. I'm not sure what to do with the bulbs now...I kept them in a cool place this winter, but you can't plant them in the spring, right? Will they still work this fall, or are they worthless? A friend of mine thought there might be a way to start them in pots, but she wasn't sure of the details.

I'm not sure, but I've seen bulbs that start in pots and are transplanted after they get to a certian size. I'll ask some of my friends who are better at this than I am.

What part of the country are you in?

Mine all washed into the neighbors yard last week. Ironically, I was planting stuff there to help with the run off...

LOL! Hopefully I'll get to plant beans and stuff this weekend. Wonder if Little Brother will have the rest of the garden tilled by the time I get to The House.

Good morning Hobbit Holers!

Thanks to each of you for your kind thoughts and words of comfort to me regarding my loss of Dino. I cried myself to sleep last night, but woke up today feeling much better. I know he is resting now and pain free, so that in itself is a comfort.

Let's have some breakfast to start the day fresh and full, whaddaya say? Flapjacks with maple syrup, 7 platters of bacon and sausage patties, fried eggs and grits. Coffee is brewed and juices are chilled. I've sliced up some fresh fruit (melons, pineapple, kiwis, grapes, etc) and have it on a dish with some sweetened yogurt dip. Banana nut, blueberry and /or chocolate chocolate chip muffins are freshly baked. There's some honey butter in the dish next to the fruit. ENJOY!

2J - Thanks for sharing the RC's e-mails with us! It's so awesome! I am so proud of you, chica!! I can hardly wait to see the pics. :)

Corin, g'nad, ksen & Hair - I am cracking up after reading those hilarious posts regarding the "Moony Moot Pic". Too funny! But I have to say that the little hatchet comment is not going to go over very well when g'nad gets here, ksen! I forsee Gondorian bashing in the near future!

Jen - If you stop in, I am cracking up at your tagline as well! Especially relevant to the Dwarf Moot. Tee hee!

Don't they give you options at the bank as to what kind of checks you want for your checking account?

You know, I love UT, but I'm not too fond of UT 2003. I actually like the old version better. Deathball is fun, but it's old REALLY fast.

"Really? One report that I read said that it wasn't really all that different. I'll do the install when I get home."

I didn't think it was that different. They have a new game Deathball, sure, but it's still just the same. They just added some power-ups, that's it. I personally favor the older version myself.

I buy from http://www.katsation.com/family/checksunlimited.html . Don't know if they're the cheapest but they're cheaper than what the bank pushes.
