The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The weatherman says that tomorrow we're supposed to see some sun, but frankly, I just don't believe him anymore!

The sun has been trying its best to peek out of the clouds for the last hour or so. Still a little drizzly, though, and the ground is VEY soggy!

proof that we survived....

Yeah, but did you get enough sleep!? Y'all look great, and I'm glad you had a good time. Hope we can do a combo Northeast/MN mini moot when ecurbh comes over this way in June.

Sam! Does that mean you now count yourself amongst the dwarves?

We would welcome you indeed!

There is a rude noisemaking test however...

Made it back okay. Still ended up having to spend about 3 hours at the pool workday...

Thanks again. Travel safe.

I survived. Was doing fine until I sat down and suddenly need a nap.

My b-i-l and s-i-l are here. I'm getting ready to go dig up a pesky lilac they're takin' home with them. Actually, it's okay, but the previous owners stuck it right in the center of the front yard. Silly place for it.

I got a bigger saw and have been working on that oak tree, turned the compost pile, and sent off WN's lemon balm (plus ran a few other errands.) I was going to cut some grass but I had a hard time starting the mower and flooded the engine. So I'm here freeping, watching the race, and practicing my whistle..

Just dropped in on my birthday to say hi, and to congratulate the dwarf mooters.

I have more info on the return of LCS the White: I definitely will be having a new computer and returning full time, starting about the latter part of May! Somebody clue me in on all the new drive types now available. Which are the best ones to get on a new machine?

It will be getting up to the low 80's all of this week, with lows in the mid 50's and bright sun most days! Soon it will be warm enough to swim in the heated pool!!!

I was referring to your LCS the White comment.

Hey! I did a good thing today!

My neighbor, the one that is on welfare, but yet buys all this stuff that I could never afford, bought a golden retriever puppy 2 years ago and proceeded to totally neglect it. It stayed in the back yard all the time and no one ever played with it, except for me and my husband and the kids, over the fence. We taught it to play fetch over the fence! They fed it, but not very well and I often saw it drinking out of their open septic tank, until they got that fixed.

Well, my neighbor put a sign up on the fence saying "Golden Retriever, free to good home". I asked her if I could have the dog and she said yes. So I contacted the local Golden Retriever Rescue and they said if I could get it to OKC (2 hours away) they would be happy to take him. I got him there two hours before their vet closed and the rescue lady was thrilled. He's a gorgeous dog and only decently socialized because of my family!

I told my neighbor what I'd done and she was pretty pleased. Wasn't mad, whew! I would have loved to have kept him, but he's a BIG BIG dog and is more dog than I can handle.
