Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Make it like an arbor or garden gate. You can landscape in front of it and put some climbing plants on the arbor. I'll have to look at my options...I'm going to check out those picket fence sections, which might be the easiest thing, and I think they have gates that set right into those. My biggest concern is that the snow plow tears up the first few feet of lawn every winter, so if I'm not careful (i.e. don't put the fence back far enough), I'll have to redo it in the spring...ugh!

Just take the fence out as an extension of the front of the house, you don't need to take that any closer to the road. If the snow plows take out the front of your house, you've got bigger problems than landscaping!

I will probably come a few feet forward of that corner...not to the road, but maybe six feet out. If I just put it straight to the right of the corner, it won't be much of an area.
The snow plow is a good thing, but I wish they could be more selective of what they plow!

First off - let me say HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAIR!
I've made you a cake...
Now, as for the rest of breakfast, I've made some lovely pigs in a blanket, 3 stacks of flapjacks with maple syrup, 7 platters of bacon and sausage, sausage gravy, buttermilk biscuits and banana nut bread. Coffee is ready and juices are chilled. ENJOY!!
Corin and g'nad - hope you guys have a blast at the Dwarfmoot. Remember to take those pics for ksen! LOL! Oh, and as far a bacon goes, don't worry! I have plenty of cows! *grinning at Overtaxed*
