Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I posted this over on the dog thread, but you guys might find it amusing, too!
I have a funny dog story! My dog learned a new phrase this weekend: "Make ya look!" I often go over to my Dad's on the weekends, and they have my dog's brother, Fritz. He and Fiona have a blast playing together, but there are definitely moments of sibling rivalry.
So...Fritzi went and got his favorite chew bone, carried it up on a comfy chair, and started chewing it in front of Fiona, who immediately decided SHE had to have it. After a few unsuccessful attempts to get it away from him (or even just share!), she jumped off the chair, ran to the window, and barked a few times. He turned around and started barking too, upon which she ran over and tried to snag the bone. Didn't work the first time, so she did it again, further away this time so he actually jumped down to see what was up. We were watching this whole thing and just ROLLING - what a little trickster!

Bye Hair!
I'll just be sitting here, plotting mischievious places to take Flat Frodo!
Elian's house, Janet Reno's house, O.J. Simpson's house, etc.

Yes, I'll enclose a note prominently on the top of the package, letting him know.
I got them all done! All the labels are applied. They fit really well in the special box I have...better than the box they came in. I'm going to see if I can get some magazines and newspapers to ship in the box...I'll send them tomorrow.

I'll just be sitting here, plotting mischievious places to take Flat Frodo! I'll take him to see the battlefields. We can share war stories....(like I have any...)
We need somebody in Tennessee to take him to Ruby Falls.
OT is in charge of "South of the Border."

But I think he'd go great in Lizard Lick.
I could take him to Blowing Rock but we might lose him.

Is that Orlando Bloom? I don't know of a lovescene with him before. Should be interesting. I personally am really waiting for the Faramir and Eowyn. With bated breath too.

Looking at your house Rosie, I'd say a small Japanese Maple would be pretty to the right of your front door. You can get dwarf versions which would have a spread of no more than 6-10 feet, so it would look great and would fill that corner. In front of that other front window, and the blank space to the right of it, you could put rhododendrons. If you pruned the very lowest branches of the rhodies, it would give them a 'tree' effect which is rather nice. Around and below both the Maple and the Rhodies, you could plant lower shrubs, like low growing juniper, that would help slow down the run off from your roof because the juniper has a very tenacious root system that would help suck up the water. Around the lower shrubs, you could put the ground cover, then you wouldn't have to worry about mowing at all!
You could do these things in stages to keep down both the expense and the work involved.

You could take Flat Frodo with you to your next gig. Hang a flat mandolin on him and VOILA! he's part of the band. ;^)
