The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I can... but I'm not a big fan of Diet Rite. I have cut my soft-drink down to next to nothing... to make room for all the water I'm supposed to be drinking.

In fact, the thing I miss the most is milk. White or chocolate. I could down a gallon right now without coming up for breath. It's hard to go without it. But the carbs! the carbs!

I started Atkins once and I felt great..had lots of energy. But it was right before the holidays and I cheated and once I did the diet went down the drain LOL I've been meaning to get back on it.

You keep up the great work!

You know how bus steering wheels are always big round and nearly horizontal....

Oh yeah, and how you can lean your face right down into them!

Very late good morning ya'll.

Hugo looks okay as a normal person I guess. Surprise. I'll give you a laugh at me... a few weeks ago I looked at that list of all the actors birthdays with birth years. Hugo is 2 years younger than me. I was appalled. Myranda had to listen to me rant around the house for 5 minutes or so. "That guy looks old! I don't look that old! My gosh, my student probably think I look that old!" etc. i was on a roll. i don't look as old as him even if i am

2J, don't trust the secretary. the envelope is going out today instead of yesterday.

ALL - Remember DIET is a 4 letter word.

OT and Corin - I'm back to my yard work in about 3 hours. And that covers my weekend plans. Finally get 2 weekends at home and yard takes up the whole thing.

Oh Ruthy, those are not roaches, they are 'Palmetto Bugs'! Heh, heh!

BTW, I hate them too. Thankfully, they don't seem to have invaded this area!

Have you ever had one fly at you?? AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

LOL!! SSQ rented a house from my Great aunt, and one night when I went over he took me out around to the back door. There was a little roof over the door, and when he turned on the flashlight, there they were, perched on the bracing waiting for him to open the back door! They used to fly in when he opened it!!

We had a Hercules Corp. in my hometown (my Daddy worked there). They made various solutions with the rosins and resins from the pine forests nearby, so there were truckloads of pine trunks hauled in there every day. I hated driving behind one of those trucks! The big old tree roaches would fly all around the stumps, and they'd fly onto the windshield of my car. GROSS!!

I've called them waterbugs, Palmetto bugs and big a$$ roaches until about 4 years ago when my sister jokingly referred to one of them as "Fred". On that occasion, the bug in question had ran across the kitchen floor on his hind legs ONLY before we finally cornered & killed him. Now THAT was a sight!

Now, whenever I talk about being attacked by "Fred", everyone in my family and close circle of friends knows what I mean.

Fred's tried to take up residence in too many of my homes too. He's gone from the house I bought up here now.

Have you guys been back to the Nanowrimo page lately?

Looks like Chris is one of those anti-war pukes. I definitely won't be back in the Fall.

I know that every creature on Earth has its place, but why couldn't the Good Lord in his Infinite Wisdom make them less disgusting?

Picture cute, fuzzy, bunny rabbit like creatures that fill the same role.

I just sent the following to Chris at Nanowrimo:

I wondered [DANG TYPO!!!!!] by the Nanowrimo site this morning and caught your un-American whine. You are certainly entitled to have your opinion, wrong though it may be.

But quite frankly, attitudes like yours make me want to puke.

Please remove my account permanently. I won't be back.

Sincerely,

Know what you mean Ruthy. You know all these posts I exchange about gardening etc. Well. My yard is organic. But, after I bought this house and found Fred lived there. There ain't nothing organic that will do the job (OT DON'T LISTEN) like a good pest control professional. Not one of those "I want to come every month and do a little something" guys either. I like the pest control professionals that you tell you want 'em gone and gone forever and they just use the Iraqi chemical plan to get 'em out. That's a professional. (OT on again now)

I'm sorry. I want to know this. What's Nanowrimo? I don't think I want to go there. I think I just want you to tell me what it is.
